Ryder Cup 2025 - All matters

Interesting article in paper today about the behind-the-scenes jostling for the 2035 event hosting. Report suggests it is a 4 way race between The Belfry, The London Club, Luton Hoo and Hulton Park, despite it not even being certain that the tournament will return to England in that year.
I played the Belfry earlier this year, the starter said they have no interest in the Ryder Cup.

The London Club would be a great choice, has previously held ET events, transport links are pretty decent.

Having played it a lot and a good pal used to be one of the Pros there, he’s said said rumour is to play around with the layout a little combining the International and Heritage courses to make a truly great RC venue a little similar to Le Golf National was. I’d certainly be getting tickets if it goes there 👌

It should be in England - it’s their “turn”

Luton Hoo are making huge changes and apparently are in pole position

In other news I see Wadkins has opened his mouth again

Two of those don’t even have a tournament course.

The Belfry is really only famous for two holes, but 10 and 18 are losing their status. When the DP Tour was there recently the fearsome 18th was reduced to a driver and a wedge. Even the shorter hitters were coming in with 8 iron. And Ryder Cup golfers would be hitting an iron in to the green on 10.

Which leaves the London club. Nice but not inspiring.

I know this won’t happen, but I’d like to see Walton Heath host again. Was fantastic when the British Masters was there a few years ago.

Luton Hoo are building a brand new purpose built course - they have the hotel and transport links plus lots of area for tented villages etc

Also have the council behind them

I wonder if the new course would include bunkers?

The current course doesn’t and I believe (I might well be wrong) that it’s something to do with not being allowed on the land.

I stayed there a few years back and the course was ok but nothing special.
The hotel and rooms were very nice though

Not sure if I dreamt this, but wasn’t there a golf course being built near Warrington or somewhere up there, purposely for the Ryder cup?

That’s Hulton Park. Near Bolton. Describing itself as “Ryder Cup standard” but not, as yet, being built purposely for it.

Yeah the new course will be the perfect stadium course that’s set up for a a Ryder cup - the design does look very good

And then it becomes a money making machine for pay and play

What do people have planned for Ryder cup weekend..?
We have a texas scramble on sat morning (I know.... Not for everyone... Lol.)
Home and chill for a bit then 6 of us going up the pub to get some food and watch the evening session..
No doubt hangover on Sunday, so will be glued to the couch for all day viewing... I have taken Monday off work also..
Sounds good to me..

Friday 16 of us playing in the morning then beer n bbq round one of the lads houses.
Saturday working from home from 12.00 in a back up role so basically left in peace with laptop and Telly.
Sunday night going into the office about 16.00 to catch up on some paperwork.
I will be only one in the office so will use 1 monitor to work and 1 to watch the golf.
Expect multiple calls from the kids all weekend needing babysitter/lift/bail money to blow my well made plans to pieces.

Friday will be a nice morning gym session followed by being sat at home on my own watching the first session, evening session Mrs M has her mum round to cat sit so I’ll watch that upstairs out of the way before an early night.

Saturday I’m going to miss most if not all the golf as we’re Flying to Cape Verde. Sunday live streaming the Singles sat next to a pool supping on rum and cocktails 👌

Friday I took the day off and my club is having a fun "Ryder Cup" Greensomes event in the morning (you get drawn on US or Europe teams), then watching the matches in the clubhouse. On Saturday I think I'm in sole charge of my toddler, so we'll test how much she enjoys watching golf. 😂 On Sunday I'm planning to play a round with mates at 12:30 ish so we can watch the singles in the clubhouse afterwards.

Apparently we all agreed to put in £15 each and for that you get 1 player for yourself and half another player.
If either of them is top points scorer you win the money,
The draw was just done at the pub and I got Sam Burns on my own and a half share in Tommy Fleetwood

Find it funny when channels like Talksport feel the need to squeeze something in about any sport other than football or boxing.

Today they had expert Tony Cascarino talking about the Ryder Cup. He was reminiscing back to the time Tommy Fleetwood played ROBBIE Fowler.

Talk:poop:

To be fair, I do listen to it when I'm driving round in my van, but they come up short in factual knowledge of a lot of sports once they stray away from football.
