Ryder Cup 2025 - All matters

Looks like it was earlier Ryder Cups where the US were better at Foursomes but recent events have seen the balance shift ( apart from from 2021 and 2016 )
Like all things Ryder Cup, it obviously favours the home team a bit. But even if you remove the most recent one (7-1), we're still 20.5-19.5 ahead even though it's 3 away and 2 home ones, so I'd still say it's a good format for us.

In 2010 we shaded the foursomes 4.5-3.5 overall as well, but there was only one player in that cup that's still playing in the current one, so I don't think there's any merit in looking any further back than that. I think there's enough evidence here to confidently say Europe are stronger in the foursomes. (y)

Looks like home team advantage on the foursmes more than anything else.

Just go and buy your red top and get ready for Friday. You'll have to start strong and build a lead in anticipation of a back nine collapse.

Just out of interest have you done the same equations with fourballs and the singles?
We might find we are better in every section 😂

Quite interesting actually. They've been exactly as good at fourballs as we've been at foursomes, in total. But, we have never bettered them in fourballs in any of these Ryder Cups. Foursomes was solely responsible for our win in 2023, and also a big deciding factor in 2014. In the two USA have won though they've just had it across the board pretty much. If you were to take the Miracle at Medinah out of it and just look at the last five cups, USA have had the best of the singles I would say.

For me it just adds to the fact that this ‘should be’ a very tight Ryder cup. Teams very similar quality on paper, and both have good track records in one format or the other.

I remember E molinari saying that they setup the course in Rome based on Europe being better off the tee and better from 175 yards and out

To me surely Bethpage black is going to suit Europe there as it’s long as

That said it’s a very different US team

Very impressed 👏👏👏.

So us in the foursomes them in the fourballs and singles pretty even.

All the stats point towards a close match.

Better off the tee or more accurate off the tee?

In Paris, the course was set up with juicy rough to put a premium on finding the fairway and negate bomb and gouge.

Good work (y)

Although your colour coding confused me initially as I thought blue was a Europe win.

Paris was an excellent course set up, it was an amazing Atmosphere and an absolute spectacle of golf. Plus I was lucky enough to be there definitely the highlight of my golfing life as a spectator

Nowadays I feel like the 'suits us suits them' stuff is a bit null and void, since every top golfer plays more or less the same way. They're all bomb and gouge now, comparatively speaking.

It did work that way for each of the formats, but then I had to make the last column red for symmetry so it ceased working. 😂

That’s one of the most accurate statements about all modern golf now imo.

I don’t think there is a course set up anywhere in world golf that isn’t set up for the modern top players. Home advantage now just comes down to a Partisan crowd especially as most players now spend their whole lives in America.

I turned off soon as he started talking. I genuinely don’t know how he’s still on TV let alone commentating on what it takes to be a Ryder Cup player and how to win it when he’s never made the team to play one!

He must have some sort of disorder - and I say that respectfully. He uses every opportunity he can to make golf about him, rather than the game. Obviously the guy is blinded with an anti LIV obsession but he's going too far when he's trying to bag his own countries team members at a Ryder Cup.

In some ways he was right - he wasn’t saying anything that hasn’t been said before about BDC

BDC going on about his you tube channel etc when it should be all about the team and Ryder Cup etc
