Aaggh Rory. Has to be one of the most frustrating players to watch. He's brilliant and then...not so.
His fan club probably doesnt have a waiting list, but that putt on 16, and the iron on 17. Up against it. Cantley isnt world #4 for nothing.
I haven't read every page so I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but driveable par 4 holes should be a part of every course designers armoury. Great excitement, lots of fun. Even members clubs could look at this, adapting existing holes.

There are 4 of them here, and what it shows is the problem with the golf ball - golf would be so much better if it were shortened back 20%. What the drivable par 4s are showing is not the drivable par 4 interest in itself, but how golf is so much more a rounded test when long shots are played to greens. It discriminates so much better than the drive and wedge show. We have 8 such holes here rather than the usual four. And the competition is all the better for it.
