Recording of shots

I agree. According to GG2 I average 80% inside fifteen feet from 100 yard (all lies). 83% from 75-100 yards and then down to 76% from 50-75%. Apart from the last one I didn't think these were too bad off 12 but if I can get these even better along with good chipping and putting then I should see handicap progression this year

I think they are awesome. I'd be amazed if mine were that good.

Off how many rounds?

I remember something similar came up a year or so ago. Folk were saying how many greens they would hit from 150 out of 10.

Then the average from the pga tour was shown. Unsurprisingly most folk on here thought they were higher than the tour average.

In reality even from 150 most of us are trying to get as close to the green as possible then get up and down

I remember that, im sure there was a 20+ HC who reckoned he would hit 9 from 10 and when questioned that it's was a better tie average he didn't budge.

You must be honking off the tee or you 3 putt a lot if you short game stats are that good.

If you are inside 15 foot that often from 100 yards in you should be lower than 12. I'm off 12 and I'm no where near that and I don't need GG to tell me.

No offence Homer but that's how I read that

Well i didnt want to just steam right in myself, cheers pal :D

Right well, I think you'll find that it's not feet but yards from the pin in the original GG, unless the new Live version has it in feet? So 15 yards equals 45ft, now for shots over 125 yards then 15yards is ok but under 100 yards I'd like to see the parameters be more specific and work in feet and be able to narrow it down so it's more comprehensive like shots from 100 to within 10-15ft then 5-10ft etc, as I'm showing from inside 15 yards I'm 93%.

What's the best way to practice then from 100 yards and in? At the range, you're using range balls and the distance markers are a bit rubbish by me and off the mats of course. Do you have to get on the course to get better at this? Or just an empty field somewhere with a bag of balls and bucket?

At the range I practice technique then distance control, but as you say not ideal.

At the practice ground I have a drill whereby I set markers out at 10yard intervals, or as close as I can get pacing it out starting at 20yds and all the way out to 90. I drop a few balls at each station and then go up and down the line hitting one ball at each station and then moving on to the next one. We have a reasonably ok practice green to hit on to, so a decent target.
