RANGE - How many balls do you hit?

I'll hit around 100,Which is a fiver at our range. I usually get bored after around 70 and try and hit three good shots to each flag before I can move on to the next flag. Which probably isn't helping but it wastes time . And balls !!

it generally depends on what i am aiming to achieve when im there on how many i hit... if releasing frustration till i feel i hurt enough balls. if working on a certain shot just enough to keep me interested. generally from about 30+

Dont go to the range that often as its about 30mins away. I have a playing field just around the corner. So short/medium irons on the field. With just one or two wood shots(long way to gather the balls). Will go to the range maybe once a month for the long game. So just 50 balls, but with full preshot routine, so will take a good hour or more. No use just blasting them (not that I can anyway).

Usually about 50 balls but Downshire did a special the other night so hit 100 balls for £3. My body ached a bit the next morning so wont be doing that again in a hurry.

The last time was October in St Andrews.....bucket of 50 bought, hit 5 and gave the rest away to the youngster next to me....bored rigid.

October at St Andrews for me too. Four of us divided up a bucket, hit less than half between us and gave the rest to a kid. Think they were links balls as I couldn't get them more then a few feet off the ground.

I've only had 1 basket each time I go to the range, which is somewhere between 50 and 60 balls, and I'd usually be bored before I got through them.

Now though I actually have something to work on, and enjoy it much more. In fact for the first time ever a couple of weeks ago I bought a second basket because I was enjoying it that much.

I was told not to hit more than 60ish balls at any one time with full swings. Unless practicing half swings and 10-15yd pitches I tend to stick to £3 worth which is 56 balls. If I do the short game work then I could double that.

Myself and a mate each got £4 worth which is 72 balls so 144 between two of us and did a range game of play the course. Another older guy acted as judge and decided the position we would have landed and distance for next shots including chips and short pitch shots for each of the 18 holes on our course. We took it in turns and had a few reloads from bad shots that on course would have been OOB, lost in trees/rough or water and we still had over 20 left in total. And there were quite a few short pitch and chip shots out of the ones we hit.

That just shows how many full shots you actually hit on the course. But over 4 hrs not 30 minutes like on the range.

I used to hit upwards of 120+ each time. I havent been for a few weeks due to work load (being knackered afterwards), I am about to embark on a new swing and have decided to structure my range time better so will be 1 basket of 50 balls from now on.

I'm the same at the moment. I've had two lessons and am currently in 'swing transition!' so 50 balls with practising new set up and swing is plenty. Especially when there are frustrating 'tops' being hit. I'm trying for 2/3 times a week at the driving range until the course is dry and the weather has improved. The thing is I can focus on my swing at the range where as on the course you have to hit different clubs and varying shots. Only about 8 weeks till the new season so I need to improve this new swing fast!

I think the min I can get is 50, i will only go range if I am working on something so a bit like Homer, once i have done 2-3 practice movements, then line up my shot and hit the ball Ive had enough after maybe 20 balls. I cant just stand there hitting them as it just bores me. If I have any left try and wedge them onto a green/net etc or just leave them for the next person. I have never done 2-300 - you guys are hardcore!!

Not being very good I get 50 balls and most are hit using 3-6 iron as I reckon they're the hardest clubs to hit, and I practise wedges at the short game area. The 7-9 irons should fall into place and the driver is fine. Have sessions on putting itself if causing grief, and to keep it good.
So practise is mostly short game, putting, short, game, putting, range, in that order.

When i go to the range which is normally only really once or twice a month due work and family then I always get a bucket of 100, Ususally take a few clubs like, wedge, 8, 6 4 and one wood. Never take a driver anymore for some reason. Just work from the wedge down and hit about 20 or so to specific places. I mainly go to work on consistancy and accuracy as these are the things I feel need the most attention. The past couple of times I'vebeen however I've really been striking the ball well and ended up getting another bucket of 100 to enjoy the experience more. Just love the feeling of hitting a pure shot.

As I'm going through big swing changes I'm going at least 3 times a week and hitting 100 balls a time. Sometimes (like today) I'll do 200 but it's always with a specific aim in mind. It's never just standing there hitting balls for the sake of it. I guess I'm lucky in a way because I never get bored of hitting balls and trying to improve.

I generally get a 60 ball bucket & usually went with my mate.
He's hitting balls within 10 seconds of arriving, no practice swings or stretches whatsoever.
He's generally done his 60 balls by the time I've done 30 or so. With my remainder he challenges me to a little competition..............which is nice.
I'm often going on my own now & using all 60 balls for myself, takes about an hour.
10 x 9 iron, 10 x 6 iron, 10 x 4 iron, 15 x 4 wood & the last 15 I concentrate on my driver!
Sometimes I might grab another bucket of 30 balls if there's something specific that's still annoying me.
I find using the range very theraputic, when on my own, but it's never quite the same as managing to get up & down from 170yds on 18th to beat your brother 1 up!

Slime.

Normally 30 for me as my trips to the range tend to be when I'm on my lunch break and I like to spend a bit of time on the putting green too. I will hit a full basket now and again (60 balls) but towards the end of those I always feel a bit fatigued. Can't imagine how I'd feel hitting 100+ in one session!!
