Right as the title says.... How many balls do you hit on average each range session?

I did hit 120 until recently and now hit 70-90 balls per session. When I was hitting 120 I felt like I was rushing and not putting any thought into each shot. Having now lowered the amount and taking my time I feel like my practice is alot better than it has ever been which in turn will hopefully result in lower scores :-)

Before I got injured I always just got 2-3 baskets, whilst I was injured I reflected on my practice and realised how bad it was, I was just mindlessly hitting balls, if I had a bad shot I just reloaded, and I never quite realised how much concentration is required for one shot. Now I only get 1 or 2 baskets, but it takes longer as I treat every shot as if it as out on the course, and more importantly if I hit a bad one I don't just reload, I pause and think about what went wrong and try (not always successfully :P ) to rectify the problem, this works for me, i think plenty of people would benefit from a "less is more" approach :)

I will normally go tuesdays and thursday nights and get maybe 44 or 66 balls each session.....They are 2 euros for 22 balls at the range i go to.....Im getting plenty of swing practice then and im not breaking the bank.

If i take 3 or 4 practice swings for each ball which i normally do as ill normally only use a 6 iron for practicing swing issues then the fifth swing is the impact swing...........So in effect my 44 balls become 176 balls....

Surely it's about quality and not quantity ;)

I tend to only get 50 balls at any session, very occasionally I'll go back for a second basket. On the whole, a good structured session working through 50 balls is enough. I also only take 3 clubs with me on any visit. I'm there to work on specific things, so there's no point in diluting the session by plasting too many balls with lots of different clubs.

Not a huge fan of the range. But when I go I'll hit 80 max. With the last 20 being on the driver (The club I most struggle to tame)
On the practice ground it could only be 50 balls with one club. I'd rather practice on the course by myself.

There's a spanking brand new range near me where with '10% extra' for a prepaid card you get 83 balls for £5. For me that's plenty enough. I found some time ago that if I simply kept reloading then after a while my practice shots got worse & worse, so now I try to take it more slowly also changing clubs every 15-20 shots; this way I get through the balls in about an hour. Which if you think about it is like playing a round in a quarter of the usual time and by then I've had enough!
( On the 'old' range you got 100 balls for a fiver but I guess all that new gear has to be paid for! )

I used to hit upwards of 120+ each time. I havent been for a few weeks due to work load (being knackered afterwards), I am about to embark on a new swing and have decided to structure my range time better so will be 1 basket of 50 balls from now on.

On the rare occasions I grace the range with my presence I'll at least have a £3 bucket (around 80 balls) and sometimes a £2 one on top (45).
Tend to get bored after 100 though and try hitting one handed or even left handed......

At first I would hit around 100-120............now when I go it will be 40-60 as I tend to have a par 3 game as well...certainly seemed to help me last week as I shot my best/first ever par3 DOUBLE BOGEY FREE ROUND......scoring 2 birdies 6/7 pars and the rest bogeys......might have only been par 3 game but I was ecstatic and it was a massive confidence boost for my short game, seeing many tee shots land on the greens.

Cheers Kev

Usually hit 100 balls. Start with a short iron, then a mid iron before I pull out my woods, but I always end the session with some target pactice with a wedge, or chip and run.

Usually a single bucket. Depending on what I'm working on, the amount of practice and slow motion swings to get the feeling I'm after and how I'm hitting it, an 83 ball bucket can last anything up to an hour and a half. I always try and step off the mat after every shot to stop the urge to just hit another if I hit a bad one. I always go through the set up and try and treat each ball as a one off like it would be on a course.

I used to get 120 balls but it was a waste of time as i was not taking my time and thinking out each shot.
When i go know i get 60 balls but try and make them count.

Used to hit way too many and not concentrate at all which obviously angered me a lot. Now I go up there and hit about 50, but it takes me about an hour because I act that I'm on the 17th tee at sawgrass and have to get it within 30ft of a particular area. Has suprisingly helped my accuracy, I think
