Mods, much like the very worthwhile threads on (e.g.) dementia, might a thread on bereavement be beneficial? It might assist people hearing how others have navigated both the emotional side and the inevitable practicalities?

Just to tie up a previous post. We arrived at Schiphol ridiculously early and sailed through. The passport machines to leave are the same as the ones in the UK, scan passport, checks face. No fingerprint. Much simpler.
If that failed, the queue was pretty big but everyone seemed to be getting through.
The big question now, are my details saved properly on the system for next time I enter the EU? They are meant to be, but.............
Not just this forum.Overuse of the word ‘offended’ on this forum. Just because someone disagrees with your point of view doesn’t mean they are offended.

I suspect when the system works it will actually be pretty quick. When we arrived there were lots of machines, the process took about a minute, no more. Then you go to the normal electronic gates. Great. The problem occurs when they don't work in some way. Then you are back to 2-3 customs officers processing X number of plane arrivals at once. That's when it takes 2 hrs plus to get through.Friends arrived today. They’d been over in January at which time they’d gone through the new system, fingerprints etc. Sailed through today in 15 minutes.
