Random Irritations

Damaged the wing mirror of my VW Golf when reversing out of a tight parking spot in an underground car park - hit a column driver side as I was focussing on avoiding the car parked close passenger side. It's going to cost a pretty penny (a good many thousands of pennies in fact) to replace as it doesn't look fixable.

That's the biggest problem with door mirrors...vastly over-engineered for what they do.
And the majority don't even use them.

Missis T once had a nose to nose with a young lad in a lorry who went over the white line and knocked her wing mirror. When looking back on her dash cam. It was Missis T who was over the line. Anyway I took the car to the guy who does my work on cars. £300 trade price. 😳 for a bloody crap wing mirror. £100 and 20 bags of coal covered the cost.

Source a second hand one and just swap it out. Not a big job and definitely not worth dealer prices.

If the cap isn’t damaged then just swap it over to the replacement.

I wish I was so confident in my ability to do it. Found a DIY video on YouTube and though it appeared ‘fairly’ straightforward I have a dread of taking the door apart and not being able to get it back together.

It really isn’t hard. Just take the door card off slowly and carefully, you can get trim removal kits to help.

A Mk8 mirror is about £100. The saving is worth the effort. And it gives you a sense of one-up on the dealers.

Just watched the news.
Apparently, if the POTUS orders a huge McDonalds and you’re delivering it, you just stroll up, knock the door and he answers personally if there are photographers there.

It's now Monday, the deadline Ebay set for the 'not delivered' review, and there are still no tracking updates on Evri, and they still haven't made any attempt to call from the 10-odd times I've tried to contact them. Absolute joke of a company with an embarrassing approach to customer service.
Still nothing, the buyer has pushed forward with his refund request. ChatGPT recommends I authorise the refund myself now to avoid a black mark against by Ebay account, but I just really, really don't want to as I know I'm just going to be left with no money and no club, and nobody contacting me about it.
