Random Irritations

Mrs called on her way to work. She took the EV to work. Drove past services, which said 'No Fuel'...

Called me to say.. 'can you take the other car to the garage for a top up'.

I was going to do the school run in my PJs... had to go back upstairs, change and then get into the car...

... Fuel gauge was showing more than 3/4 fuel!!!! Why do we need to top up. But I did it anyways, to not upset HQ... total bill about 10 quid, and a wasted 20 mins for detour.

Just like we have just had the first day that feels like Spring, this sounds like the first day of panic buying.

And on a lighter note.....
Arrived in Tenerife Monday evening, Out for a stroll about 19.30 in short sleeves and shirt for a few drinks. Lovely.
Tuesday beautiful.
Wednesday bloody cold as Storm Therese announced her arrival by blowing in. Apparently she's just limbering up and intends to stay until Tuesday next.
We go home Thursday.
Weather back home Sunny and dry!
😢
I'm in The Algarve since Tuesday. Lordy the rain today has been biblical all day....so far. Friday doesn't look good or Saturday. Crossing everything that the weather apps have got the forecast right for Sunday and Monday. I'm sat in shorts in the house we are renting with heaters on full blast.

Agree with the shirt wearers, it’s a bit naff unless you’re going to the match or the pub to watch the game, seeing people walk around the metro centre in Toon tops makes me giggle a bit 🤣
Why? I've got loads of different shirts. Portugal, Benfica, Roma home and away etc. and wear them all the time in the summer

Would a Sunderland shirt be ok?
I had a sales call today, energy supply 🙄, from a guy based in Sunderland. I told him he would need to speak to a colleague who wouldn't be in until Monday. 'Oh, I won't be in on Monday, I'll be in no state to work' 😂

At least he was honest. There will be some beer drunk in the two cities on Sunday 🍻

I’ve taken to wearing a bright red dickie bow to club presentation nights. It generates conversation & a good laugh. Club lunches see the Hawaiian shirts coming out for the same reason. I’d rather have a laugh than be the miserable git in the corner.
I once turned up for a Club dinner in my formal dinner suit and bowtie. Entered the room to find everyone in smart casual and jibing me.
After the dinner an elderly Senior, also in formal evening wear, (the only other in the room), came across, shook my hand and said, sounding like the Major in Fawlty Towers, "Good to see someone making an effort. Well done!"
I was made up! I thought "The other way round would be far worse".
On another occasion, the funeral of a fiend's dear wife, her request was "No black - bright clothing please". I obliged - cream jacket, casual open necked shirt. I arrived to find that, apart from her husband and I, everyone wore "respectful", golf club jacket, collar and tie.
I thought that was actually disrespectful.

After being out most if the day today with no rain we returned and had a "meal" on the balcony - baguette, tomato, cheese wine etc.
We relaxed and planned going out for a stroll around 7.
Skys were just overcast then, suddenly, God threw his chamber pot on us. it was unbelievable. I ramped the (bluddy manual) awning out to full stretch - a 3 minute workout as the balcony was flooded. Then it just stopped as if it had never happened - blue sky from nowhere.

Back out tonight about an hour ago everyone shooing away the Chinese lady selling head umbrellas and plastic ponchos. As soon as she'd gone Boom!
All the punters who'd bought them looking 😏
But, again, 30 mins later all's well.
Another week of this 🙄

I’ve got a couple and don’t even wear them to games. I’m not really sure why I bought them if I’m honest.

I know that pedestrians have the right of way on Zebra crossings but the number of people I see who just walk out without looking scares me to death..
Had one this morning..I saw them and clocked that they were going to cross probably before they'd even decided to
But they just strolled out without looking.....Just assuming that traffic will see them and stop.
They should...but would you risk it?
Pedestrians have right of way at all times I thought?

I’m not a big fan of football shirts, especially when people wear them to go on holiday.

Slightly less offensive if worn tucked in with knee length socks though. 😂
