Just to update this, it was a tad disconcerting to see drones/missiles taken out high in the sky above us and a strike on a depot a mile or so away, but this was all yesterday and seems quieter now. We’re pretty chilled about it actually - what can you do?
We were at the airport in the lounge when we heard some explosions. There was a bit of confusion for a couple of hours but when we realised that nothing was going to go, we made the decision to simply re book our hotel as we knew it and it is alongside a Mall for necessities if we needed them, then swiftly got a cab out.
Etihad have cancelled the flight but are/will rebook us onto the first available whenever.
So we were having a nice curry yesterday evening instead of being bussed to wherever Etihad had booked for thousands of passengers which would have taken forever.
Admittedly your phone squawking in the middle of the night with missile warnings doesn’t make for the best nights sleep, but
My only minor irritation is the difference in time taken to buy some shorts and a shirt and flip flops by a man and a woman plus other necessities.
However we are now sitting near the beach with a Peroni so it can’t be all bad.
I was really tempted to use that line that an American used during the ashcloud issue when told that all flights were cancelled and she said “What even business class?”
Procedure, procedure, procedure. Get rid but as you know, from past discussions, you need to do it by the book. No matter how irritating it is, and it is.Someone not turning up for work this morning.
No phone call, no email.
I called them at 09.30 oh sorry I slept in I can start at 11.00
Meant to start at 08.00.
Told them not to bother.
Trying not to be too rash and telling them to find somewhere else to work but really want to.
This isn’t the 1st time it’s happened this year
Yeah I know, I’m just blowing off steam.Procedure, procedure, procedure. Get rid but as you know, from past discussions, you need to do it by the book. No matter how irritating it is, and it is.
Have a good walk around the office / factory, I do that to calm myself down.
Hope you aren't skiving off in work timeYeah I know, I’m just blowing off steam.
I’ll make a decision later once the red mist has gone.
I have an office manager that deals with this sort of thing and she is brilliant with anything official.
I’m off to Smyths toy store in a minute with my Grandson and Nephew cause there is something I just have to see apparently.
I’ll have calmed down by the time I get home.
Haha. Fortunately I was only working till 10.00 and WFH.Hope you aren't skiving off in work time![]()

What lone of work is this? Not for the first time, but today having to send a grown man home to change and put clean clothes on as they turned up to work looking their kit was ironed with a rock and washed in a mud bath
MilitaryWhat lone of work is this?
If you ran my office, you'd send 80% of the workforce home. The director wears a fleece covered in cat hair. And another chap walks about in his bare feet and cycling shorts.
Sounds like he getting ready to travel to NI for a tourMilitary

I think keeping tecchies chained up is just common sense. Restrict them to their areas of expertise and don't let them pollute the rational thought processes of others. We used to keep the techies chained up in the basement in case some one saw them.... or disease was spread.![]()

I have calmed down now.+1 that no matter how annoying it is you have to read your own policy and follow it to the absolute letter.
Last employee we had that repeatedly treated turning up as optional, stormed out of the first stage meeting (not even disciplinary at that point), left the premises and never came back. Even then we had to go through several formal HR steps sending recorded delivery letters etc but at least it resolved the problem nicely.![]()
Never mind that, how was the toy shop?I have calmed down now.
Will sit down tomorrow with them and have a chat.
Then put in place whatever procedure is needed depending on their attitude.
Means I got to go into the office though which is annoying as I am also working Thursday & Friday this week covering holidays.
Assume that was at NH Ian! Always felt a bit vulnerable when i had to go down there and get a laptop replaced or sortedWe used to keep the techies chained up in the basement in case some one saw them.... or disease was spread.![]()
