Random Irritations

My wife told me she wants a 'walk pad'. What the heck is that, I ask. It's like a treadmill but just for walking apparently. Are you having a laugh? An £80-100 device to enable you to go for a walk?? Last I checked, walking is free! You can absolutely whistle for that, love, because I won't be buying one. Nor will I allow one in the house! Unbelievable. Just go for a walk!
I had to double check what it looked like but we have one. Great bit of kit in winter when it's cold or chucking it down. 30 minutes on it whilst watching a bit of TV, better than sitting on your backside. Ours goes under a sofa so you don't see it most of the time.

Don't be that dismissive.

You've now got him checking whether she fits under the sofa! 😆

Never heard of them before but reading your post made me think of my dad, he’s 82 and is always moaning that he doesn’t do enough walking, I think I will get him one… he can potter along on it whilst watching GBnews! 😁

The Boy has one up in his room....he used to walk a couple of miles to College every day but now he's working, although he does get quite a few steps in, he does a few miles most evenings....he's set up a screen so he can watch videos while he's doing it.
Far better than walking around here in the cold and dark...potholes, even on pavements, dog mess etc etc....

I got one for my wife , very useful for at times when it’s not always possible to go for a walk outside

My daughter has just got one, working mum 3 kids under 12, picks them up from school 2 after school swimming club gets home have tea, some time with kids before putting them to bed

No time to go out in the dark cold nights.

She thinks walking pad is a good thing.

My first thought was same as you and said to just go out in fresh air and have a walk, wasn’t long before I was put in my place😂

20mph speed limits are a complete joke. The local council consulted on the streets where I live changing to 20 from 30. The majority were against it, but they implemented it anyway.
I disagree. Much nicer in small towns where the speed limit is 20.
You’ll get people still doing about 30, but they would have been doing 40 before.

Buy her a dog, then when the dog wants to go for a walk she can get you to do it 🤣

My Nan has been walking 2 miles a day for the last three years. She sent us a postcard from Aberdeen at Christmas.
Boom boom!

My wife has one. She works at home and uses it whilst working. She has a raisable desk so gets steps in whilst in meetings/calls. Her average steps have gone from 8k to 14k per day apparently. I used it a couple of times when we had the bad weather. You can put it on an incline so it’s not a bad little work out.

13 days into the dreaded lurgy. It’s a roller coaster ride. Think I’m improving, then go out for a full English brunch yesterday and feel rough again today. It’s been rinsed & repeat on 3 occasions now. I managed to play a league match 9 days ago but not Wednesday’s.

Mrs H has it too. Typically of a smoker, her hacking cough first thing is disgusting.

It’s a weird lingering one isn’t it. I feel physically fine now, little bit of a cough not much else with one exception. My lungs just can’t get enough in them still no matter what. Went for the 50 yard walk from my block to the scoff house an hour ago felt like fires were being lit in my lungs with every breathe of cold air on the way there and back. Both times needed the inhaler after to get anything back in them.

Never had anything like it and hope the need to use an inhaler isn’t going to be lasting.

Not sure if it’s the same lurgy, but the 3 of us were bad early October, took a few weeks to get over it, but the cough element seemed to hang around for 6-8 weeks between us.
