Random Irritations

Newcastle Airport had a drop off / pick up zone in the short stay car park, it was free for 15 minutes, worked great, 2 minutes walk to the terminal. They have just scrapped it and replaced it with somewhere off site, too far to walk, with a shuttle bus which runs once every 30 minutes. If you want to drop off at the airport it’s now £5 for 10 minutes. Progress apparently.

I confidently predict very few people will use the off site option and it will be quietly dropped pretty soon.

That’s how it works at Luton , been that way for years , many park at the Dart terminal and then take the dart into the airport

Lateness is an attitude thing, nowt else. Pee poor attitude if you don't arrive early

Uk Airport parking is a con, we get an hour drop off / pick up for 85p

Leeds/Bradford
  • 0-10 minutes (duration) - £7 (price)
  • 10-20 minutes - £9
  • 20-30 minutes - £12.50
  • 30-60 minutes - £15.50
  • Each subsequent hour or part thereof - £15.50
.
For those looking for a free option, the One Hour Free Zone allows up to 60 minutes of free parking. It is located about a 3-4 minute walk from the terminal.
Important Note: If you exit and re-enter within an hour, a minimum charge of £59.00 will apply.

Wow really? Bunch of 🤬

Special mention must go to Bristol, Edinburgh and Luton airports who all charge a non refundable £2 for trolleys, others are either free or £1.

Bristol also only allows their own monopoly taxi company (Apple) to wait and pickup and drop off directly outside the terminal. All others have to wait off site and pay the pick up / drop off charge. Unsurprisingly the monopoly company is considerably more expensive than all other local ones and even more irritatingly don’t have enough cars so there is a frequent up to 2 hour wait to be ripped off.

Apple Online/telephone customer service. Ordered Mrs M some AirPod Max headphones for collection at the Reading store as thought would save a lot of queuing. Got both the confirmation of payment/order email and the “they’re ready for collection” email they weren’t ready at all. Fortunately we were having a day out in Reading because we had to wait a further 5 hrs for them to be released for collecting.

Kensington and Chelsea council.
For the third time, I have a penalty notice for drving my van over Albert Bridge which has a 3 ton weight limit and is camera monitored.
What's irritating is that my van has a GVW of 3T (as per the DVLA web site and the V5) so doesn't exceed the limit, and the 2 previous penalty notices they " accept your appeal this time"
Someone needs ro check their AI systems...

I went to see the family post Christmas and caught some sort of throat/chest illness. Happens every time I go which must be down to going out to all the family fun places.

Went to the driving range earlier, got out the car, opened the boot and no golf clubs.

I’d taken them out when I went shopping yesterday 🤦‍♂️

At my local range, they've a decent free to use selection. Not perfect, but it's 20 mins away, so if it happened, I'd hit a few balls with their loaners.

Sharing my car with the wife while the new one is on order. Each time I get in to drive, the seat's moved, the rear view mirror has moved, the radio is down at zero volume, she's also pressed the button on the end of the indicator that changes what your dashboard displays (not intentionally, she's just ham-fisted). Also the car is now full of handbags, hairbrushes, loose change and general trash.

On order? What did you go for?

Two idiot mini van taxi drivers who it appears fail to understand that driving conditions change when the roads have a layer of snow and ice - no surprise both span off the road hitting other cars , one tried to drive away as well

First day back at work. It snowed overnight, it was snowing on the way in. The factory is cold, heating is on but it's been off for two weeks. I need to clear the snow from the entrance so that deliveries and collections are safe but it is snowing heavily right now so no point.

It's a miserable first day back.
