Random Irritations

Waking up to no water. I've been to Aldi to get some for us and youngest daughter and family plus some spares for anyone who needs it in the street. People were running in to get some and another supermarket has already has run out.
It's a major burst so water being tankered in.

However, back from golf and there is water over a kitchen worktop and the floor. Water coming through a spotlight. Managed to get son-in-law here. Not a leak from a bath pipe so he thinks its a central heating pipe. Timing couldn't be worse ☹️

I wasn’t commenting on this particular incident. I was stating a fact, that being that it is common practice for sales staff at car dealerships to use demonstrators as company cars to get them to and from work.

That said, as someone who spends a considerable amount of time working with car dealerships, I can tell you that, a lot of the time, their treatment of customers falls way short.

Just three examples in recent weeks involve separate dealers booking us to deliver new cars to customers. All three cancelled with us, as an independent logistics firm, at the last minute, because the vehicles hadn’t been prepped. Do you suppose the dealership let their customers know? No, on all three occasions there were customers, excitedly waiting at home for delivery of a new car, having taken the day off work, and not a word of explanation from companies to whom they had paid considerable sums of money.

Fortunately I had let them all know. I’m under absolutely no obligation to, as it’s not me selling them their new cars. But I know how dealerships are.
My comment was more to those saying they would not deal with dealership because of the issue. Typical nuclear reaction from some on here.

Woke up in the early hours and needed a pee, the bathroom door is bang next to the bedroom door so I didn’t bother with the lights and just felt around the wall like I have done hundreds of times before.
Felt for the bathroom door which I didn’t realise was wide open, went clattering down like that Delboy scene from Only Fools & Horses, smacked my nose on the door handle on the way down and ended up in a mess on the bathroom floor. Elbow sore, knee grazed, nose a bit bruised but I don’t think it’s broken.
I’m driving down to the in-laws for xmas very soon (missus is already there), a 5 hour drive where I’ll decide if I tell them the truth or not 🤕🤣
Merry Xmas everyone 🥳
You plonker!

Glad you got a result, although.... in my opinion, throwing money at a problem is not a sign of good customer service. It's an absolute cop out to 'get rid' of the problem

Agree to some degree, but for any business, sometimes stuff does go wrong and although you might be able to change how things work to improve and prevent the situation for future, there simply isn't anything you can do to magically fix the problem for the customer that's in front of you right now.

A genuine sorry and a £135 goodwill gesture on a £135 transaction does seem like the most they could possibly do here - I'd be happy with that and use the company again. Lots of businesses would have done a whooooole lot less.

On the delivery theme, we ordered a rug back in November from Amazon. Originally due 8th Dec. After it was pushed back twice spent some time with 'customer services'. It's marketplace, so they don't really want to know, despite taking the order & money. Seems Amazon know they never hit the dates, but they still let them advertise them. All they could do was offer a refund, couldn't give a trustworthy date. So left it some more days in case of any news before finally taking the refund option on Monday. We picked up something local yesterday.
Here's the twist, this morning receive 'delivery due today' notifications!
GLS (whoever they are) have apparently attempted delivery 3 times between 08:41 & 12:57 - despite there being several people in the house, no sign.

Best guess is they haven't received the cancel yet and are putting out made up delivery attempts to try to cover themselves.

Email from Royal Mail at 0705 this Xmas Day morning. Please collect your parcel from the sorting office.

Irritation, it’s from Waitrose wine cellar and contains two bottles of wine that I ordered specifically for Xmas day dinner. Only ordered them on 12 Dec with a 3-5 day delivery timeline.

How posh. Ask your butler to run and collect them.😜

Not my irritation but certainly for many home and business owners at the southern end of Mojacar. We had a tremendous storm from around 6pm to midnight last night. The far end of the town has been without electricity since about 8pm.

Today is a big money spinner for many of the restaurants charging around €60 upwards for a 3 course Christmas lunch. Add in the drinks and you’re looking at around €150 a couple. Most places were booked out weeks ago.

Then there’s the home owners with the same problem + lots of freezers defrosting. I suppose someone’s doing well on the overtime sorting the problem.

We are very posh. I’ve had to go to my wine cellar ( adjacent to my golf equipment storage area) and select two of the finest bottles of Malbec that I laid down some time ago.

Which translates to ‘ We are fairly normal, and I went to the garage to get a bottle of Malbec bought from Morrisons last week’

Monty Python’s Flying Circus springs to mind. “Well, we had it rough. We lived in a shoe box in the middle of the road…”
