Random Irritations

Not everyone has moved on 🤷. It was a bit wild west for many years at night but a lot of those bars have since closed/had their licences revoked. It's much improved, more family like now. Still plenty of pubs for those who want to swim in beer 😂.

OMG, it was so much like the Wild West!

When we lived in South Shields we booked a B&B in Whitley Bay one Bank Holiday. Never again! It was mental…

Problem with my left knee, had difficulty swinging the club, it blew up like a balloon overnight, lucky to get in to see the doctor and having MRI on Monday, now taking anti inflammatory tablets.

So a quiet few days or weeks ahead.....good news are the tablets are working.

Full schedule of Championship, League 1&2 and National League games to enjoy though.
I’m gutted we’ve been drawn away on Boxing Day. As we’ve got family
Round for the day I could have got away with going to the home game as it’s only 25 mins by car could have wangled it as an afternoon with the boy before returning to guests. But can’t do it with it he game in Plymouth, we’re away on NYD as well to Peterborough and Mrs M has planned us to go to Somerset for the day to see MiL 😒.

Whitley Bay was lively, but not as bonkers as the Bigg Market on a Saturday night. That was early 1980s.
Barnsley had some wild nights. SR Gents (clothing manufacturer, no long gone) had a Christmas do that was legendary in the 80s, as was the council night out. You didn't need to work for the council to get a ticket so was rammed.

Our local independent cinema has a season of Xmas films every year, - It's A Wonderful Life, Elf, etc. Last year they had Die Hard. We went along to that. Not sure it qualifies as an Xmas film, though obviously there is an Xmas theme running through.

This year they had The Shining. We went to see it last night. It holds up well after 45 years, Jack N is great in it, but there is no way it's any kind of Xmas film. Lots of snow, but absolutely no mention at all of Xmas.

@The Squirrel ah, West Cumbria is quite an isolated place and can get pretty feral. You did well to come out unscathed 😂

Whitley Bay used to have a heck of a reputation on a bank holiday Monday for drinking up here but the council have clamped down on this in recent years. It did get out of hand.
I experienced quite a few BH Mondays in Whitley Bay. Absolutely mad. Everyone started drinking at lunchtime, and were off their faces mid-afternoon. Sylvester's nightclub used to open at 4pm and would be rammed in minutes.

The whole drinking culture has changed in WB, it's all wine bars and micropubs these days. A definite change for the better, but I did love the madness back in the mid-90s.

Sounds like your health service is in decent shape there, or are you paying privately?

Dentists!! Just them in general doesn’t irritate as much as it’s pure hatred 🤣

I’d rather be punched in the face than sit in the chair I’m waiting to go in and have someone shove implements in mouth whilst telling me to open wider whilst they drill and prod😒

Not really......he's still got to fork out £10K for a gearbox!!!!!!! I assume he's plenty money?
Yes really!
