Random Irritations

Just completed my annual review form and been asked to complete my targets for FY26, despite the fact I am retiring at the end of January!
I'm not moaning about my manager, he knows its daft as well. Just box ticking.
And don't get me started on the Workday software. That's a PITA as well.

To get to single figures and make a hole-in-one would be good targets. ;)
You'd maybe get some interesting feedback.

I opened up my work email morning of 16th Feb 2021 to see a meeting in my calendar set up,by my personal manager that wasn’t there when I logged off the previous evening…it was titled Career Progression.

That confused me a little as it wasn’t long since my annual review, and I had spoken regularly with him about cutting down days looking ahead towards retirement a year or two hence - indeed two weeks previously I’d dropped to a four day week. He knew I wasn’t interested in progressing my career.

It was a subterfuge…it was a meeting with him and the resourcing director of my function to discuss voluntary exit…they had a proposal to put to me and they didn’t want anyone else looking in my calendar to suspect anything. 🙄

Surely that should not take too long.

Targetting to retire at the end of January 2026 is the answer to every question.

guys, once a British politician is named another forumite names one from an opposition party.

We’re now into the realms of politics. We’ve let things run as Trump’s comments were non-political. Forumites are now straying.

Time to move on.

Christmas cards. Am not sure if it should be in things that gladden the heart or random irritations. Don’t get me wrong, I am glad we get one. But why just deliver it, post it through the letter box, and not knock on the door and say hello. Sometimes we don’t see folk from one year to the next, But then we get a card. When I deliver them I knock on the door. If there in am having a natter.

That's a timely reminder for me to disconnect the doorbell.

I’d say any form of greeting card is an irritation and waste of paper.

I’d rather have a chat in person or over the phone than put up a card for a few days before binning it.

I agree, we don’t do any cards anymore.
We end up missing someone who send us one then panic starts trying to get them a card before the big day.
We now get out and meet up with people and it’s much nicer than sending a card to Paul & Betty cause you lived next door to them 39 years ago
