Random Irritations

One of the best male vocalists I've ever heard ..................... if not THE best.
Definitely up there with Freddie Mercury and George Michael.

The best male vocalist to come from the 60's for sure and that's saying something! My Old Man taught me well and I still listen to the Small Faces and Marriott's other stuff most days.

Germany makes some lovely wines that I have tried whilst there. I think they ship their poor wine to the UK.

Ditto to that. At one time Tesco did a good selection of German wines but no longer.

Talking to the owner of a local wine shop a few years ago he said they have trouble producing enough quantity for their home market hence the lack of it in the UK.

The reports from Jamaica look terrifying. My heart goes out to all those affected.

Now, I know we don't like the grammar-police etc on this forum, but surely news reporters and journalists should maintain some sort of standard.
This is not a "humanitarian disaster". It is a human disaster and there will be humanitarian efforts in the aftermath. I hope none of those efforts should prove to be a disaster.

I play 3 times a week and we all have a couple of beers after.
Current guest ale is London Pride at £4.20.
When they get it right it's lovely. On occasions they don't and we give it back.

That takes me back to another beer. When I was growing up my cricket club had Marston's Pedigree. It was either the best beer ever or the worst. There was no in-between. Each Saturday was a nervous wait to find out which one it would be 🤣.

In it's defence, there wasn't enough usage mid week but even so..........

I’ve never heard those words in the same sentence before. Vile drink.
Its such a shame.
A Ruddles pub in Rutland or Leicestershire was a very fine place to go.
Ruddles Bitter, Ruddles Best and Ruddles County were all very good.

But the brewery in Rutland lost its independence and ownership went through various hands and eventually to Greene King.
The brewery closed a long time ago, but Greene King own the brand name and produce stuff known in these parts as "Ruddles Counterfeit".
It has no resemblance whatsoever to those fine beers from my teens and twenties.

Very very sad.

If I think only of beers that I have drunk in a pub in Leicestershire, I have probably drunk more pints of Pedigree than any other.
I do remember a rare few "off" pints, but the landlord would apologise and replace with something else.

In our club the servers don't know how to look after beer, understandably so, and it has to come from cellar to first floor.
Recently I was handed a pint of brown cloudy water with curdled suds for a head. I passed and was told "You haven't even tasted it!".
I simply replied "Nor should I.You'd never try and serve that up in a pub"
The other server doesn't hesitate. Chucks it and says "Gimme 5" and ten minutes later serves a first class, crystal beer.
On the subject of price I'm in Japan. One of the party was 70 two days ago and went to the roof bar. Draught beer served in 750ml glasses! 😁
Downside - 4000yen 😵
£20.
He had four.
Fortunately I'd bought him a drink earlier at dinner for much less.

Is there a worse beer than Sam smiths alpine lager 🤮

When I was in York a couple of weeks ago the pub next door to the B and B we stayed in was Samuel Smiths. The lager was proper rammel. However the story has a happy ending. When they lit the coal fire, I took my coat off and knocked my pint over. I caught the glass but there was 1/2” left in the bottom. To the best of my knowledge it’s still sat on the table. I couldn’t drink it.
That aside they are rubbish pubs as well.

Pub quiz masters who can't handle it and get flustered at the slightest querying. At the one last night she cancelled an entire round that we were doing well in just because one of her answers was wrong! On another question people queried on she just panicked and said "oh everyone gets a point for that one then". Diabolical. Not to mention the amount of times she missed answers out when reading them out, or read the next question too quickly giving you no time to think. 🤦🏻‍♂️

We did win in the end though somehow so can't complain too much I guess. 😆

Once went to a real ales place in a shopping arcade in Southport. I asked for half a pint of the most popular ale they sold. Cloudy is an understatement, you couldn’t drink it with a straw. The only time it was filtered was when it eventually got through my kidneys.

People who don't drink in pub quizzes!

"Tap and Bottle?"

"Tap and Bottle?"
Omg it was 😖. On the opposite corner was another pub. Had a great night in there. We saw a Robbie Williams tribute act. He sounded amazing. Only he was vertically challenged/small. Us at the back had to stand on chairs to see him.

Sold a ticket for the Grand Sumo on Viagogo. Havent seen the money come into my paypal. Viagogo says money should have been credited. No way to raise a help/tickt with Paypal
