Random Irritations

The sheer number of people I see online who type “ect” when they actually mean “etc”.

It happens so frequently, it can’t possibly be a typo. There must be a whole generation of people who, for some reason, believe it is spelled “ect”.

You want to see the number of times I type teh instead of the.

The trouble these days most of us have taught ourselves to type and think we are competent touch typists.

I probably spend more time correcting my errors than typing the sentence in the first place.

Going out for the afternoon with the simple intention of sitting in the park and reading for a couple of hours only to find the Kindle battery has run out of charge and the back up battery pack is flat.

You missed out the word spend in the last paragraph 😂.
Obviously a Freudian slip 👍

Had the grandkids today and just about to take them to the park.
Thought I'd be clever and put the keys in the front door ready for the off.
Except I put them in the wrong side of the door, closed it and locked us all out!!

We then called a locksmith that we'd used before.
"OK, he said, be there in half an hour."
Got here in 25 mins. with his angled implement, put it through the letter box and hey presto the door opened.
£60 later an expensive morning.
But I thought it was well worth it,especially getting here so quickly.
Great service!

Anyone else noticing an increase in dropouts on DAB radio?

For work, we have set routes between dealerships and 3 months ago, I could listen to either Absolute Rock or Radio X Classic Rock , without any service interuptions.
Now there are dropouts all over the place, in multiple different cars, tried different stations too inc Radio 2, still some dropouts , but not as many

found the same in my own car,

I could of course be totally imagining the whole thing, unless anyone out there is having the same issue

Same.

Every time my Lenovo tablet does a system update, it "helpfully" preselects a bunch of apps that it suggests I should install and there's no way to unselect them all in one go. Have to individually unselect each one. Tiresome.

Yep. I work in sarf London. Absolute, Radio X, Smooth and Jazz FM have all disappeared from DAB, even after a retune.
I know that DAB was upgrading to some advanced version but our radio is supposed to be compatible.
Sadly, Jeremy Vine and Chris Evans have not been silenced.

Does your radio support DAB+? A lot of stations have migrated to that and have stopped broadcasting standard DAB.

Language of the modern youth! Now I’m not old, still in my early 40s(just).

But this evening having a conversation with my 13yr old daughter I’ve heard the words Sigma! Bussin, Ratio’d and delulu! Genuinely have no idea what she was saying to me! Had to get my younger daughter to explain it to me! Now going to bed baffled!

The fact that you were even able to have a conversation with your 13 year old daughter should go in the things that gladden thread.

Sigma is a term associated with misogyny I believe.
