Random Irritations

Are people really struggling to eat peas? I just use the fork 'underarm' in the same manner as a spoon and the peas sit nicely in between the tines. Very easy. It's amazing what some people struggle with.
Whilst maintaining fork in left hand with proper grip and not shoveling...? Has to be asked. ;)

The work colleague I had a moan about the other day, he got admitted into hospital on Monday night with a suspected stroke, we found out earlier he’s been diagnosed with a brain tumour 😕
He also had a seizure the other day so I’m pretty certain he won’t be able to to drive for at least 12 months.
Even if it’s a low grade tumour and no further treatment is required he won’t be able to do his job for a long long time. Does anyone know what his rights are as an employee?
Gutted for the lad.
Also worth checking to see if he has an income protection policy, as that would kick in after a deferred period to cover the loss of wages. If he has a critical illness policy, that has a list of conditions where after diagnosis, would pay out a lump sum

I’m really not sure, we used to have a policy like that years back but I think they stopped it. We do have a private medical care package that includes cancer treatment etc but I’m pretty certain it’s purely for treatment and not wages.
I was discussing it with a colleague earlier, we aren’t sure how the business can accommodate him, they could possibly put him on the service support desk full time but he’s not great at that job and causes more problems than he fixes 🤦🏻

Don't know what this bit in bold means. But yeah left hand, because the knife in the other hand is acting as a barricade on the other side of the peas while you slide the fork under.
Shoveling is using the upper side of the prongs to 'scoop' the peas as it's not practical to balance them on the back of the prongs - that's why the 'correct' way to eat peas is to squish them onto the back of the fork and between the prongs using the knife :)

Why would I waste my time 'squishing' them, they will be in my mouth before you've finished mucking about with yours like that.

People who sit on the outside seat on a train who 'fall asleep' as they pull in to each station so nobody sits next to them only to miraculously wake up just as the train pulls away only to be back to sleep for the next stop

Unfortunately, you are likely right regarding the private medical, as that wouldn't include anything to cover wages. Not sure how big your company is but do you have access to an employee assistance program, as these usually have a helpline that a manager can call to get advice (and anything discussed wouldn't get back to the HR department)
