Random Irritations

Chelsea v Benfica last night,

Referee taking them off the pitch 4 minutes before the end of the 2nd half.

Surely weather radars are good enough to say 4 minutes is OK.

The good side was getting to see the second half of the Neil Young Glasto set.

what is noticeable about that is that I have no idea of what my fellow golfer's music tastes are but we have a 30 year age gap between us so not likely to be similar with most.

The girls school canceling sports day at the last min for Tuesday

Now nobody is annoyed that it's cancelled because of the heat .. we understand

However the sports teacher was begging Thursday for it to be cancelled as it's too hot. They have TODAY decided .. after telling her no it's going ahead

Thats one annoyance.. but then rather than giving people say a week or 2 notice it's moved to this Thursday. Rightly all the parents are fuming. Hardly anyone will be able to move a day off at the last second.

I've gone from having all the grandparents and myself there all day Tuesday to just me Thursday afternoon and having to miss eldests sports day in the morning as I start nights Wednesday.

I'll be one of the few parents there now. Might win the dad's race I guess

Oh and to make it worse for parents the special needs sportdays was Thursday which they have now realised the rest of school have taken over so let's muck those parents about aswell and move them to Friday. I know let's also muck up plans for kids who need structure the most eh

Are they ‘real’ sports days with winners and (heaven forbid) losers, or the new trendy things where everyone gets a prize for taking part?

This one has points for each team so it's red green yellow blue teams

So the winner for the infant stage is say red and junior is blue and whole school is red

So you do have winners in that respect

It's two fold tho, if they had made the decision last week as asked by the teachers this wouldn't have happened or if they moved the date by 2 weeks nobody would mind because it's manageable

Instead everyone's moving plans about trying to get there.
 
Schools and weather - hard to make judgements that will please everyone , last Friday was school fairs around the town , two schools cancelled , the rest went ahead - parents moaning that it went ahead , parents moaning that it was cancelled

Thinking back I can never remember parents being at sports days in the past

Have it during the kids pe and keep parents away as it times they can get more competitive and cause issues

Sports day for the schools round here is two weeks away during the last week off school

I always went to my lads sports day when he was younger.
It was never really taken serious,was more a bit of fun.
Parents never went when he was in high school.

I think Phil is the fact the wife works there so she was there when the pe teacher was making the case very strongly to the head that sports day is too hot for Tuesday you have to move it

"No it's going ahead that's final" this was Thursday

Sunday it's changed "due to hot weather"

We know.. you were advised by the head of pe who said it wasn't a good idea to go ahead...

Plus moving it to Thursday and moving the special needs kids sports day is ridiculous why not move the rest of school to Friday so the SEN kids parents and children don't get mucked about? Why muck everything up

I’m sure they have reasons why they have moved it all to a Thursday - Friday for example is nature club and forest club at the little ones school which is paid for by parents and external teachers coming in

All the forest and nature clubs are the schools teachers round here. No external factors just the head not listening to her teachers
