Combi-microwave packed in after about 10 years loyal service. After hours of googling I was totally befuddled by the choices and reviews.
Found one that was in stock in Currys and decided to go "see and feel it" - and bring it home if I liked it.
It wasnt on display so I asked an assistant. He checked, confirmed it was in stock and said "I'll get it brought out to your car".
I said, politely, "I want to see it before I decide on buying".
"Can't do that I'm afraid".
"Why not?"
"We're not allowed to open the box".
Pause by me.
"So I have to buy it, take it home, then bring it back if I don't like it?"
"Sorry, once it's opened you can't bring it back 'cos you don't like it".
Another pause as I stared at him.
"Well, that's that then".
He looked back at a screen and said "Sorry 'bout that".
Out in the car I rang Customer Services. They said eagerly "You can order it now with me".
I said "But I want to see it in case I don't like it".
"If you don't like it just send it back"!
Ordered on Amazon with 30 days return promise.

They don't seem to make them like that any more.
I've taken very good care.
Newer ones have a built-in obsolescence and then you have to get a new one every few years. Costly business that. Glad I avoided.
