Random Irritations

He did feel really bad and think I was too forgiving as one of our opponents looked after me until I felt ok to drive home and was very scathing of his actions. He gets very excitable and wants to smash everything but how the hell he didn't register his partner at the net was taking the shot I don't know.

Feel rough as this morning and look worse!!
But did he at least win the point? ;)

Get well soon

So you leave the house unlocked?
House key is in a little compartment thingy in my phone case, I think it was designed for a card to slip in to, found my key fit too. Only needed for the front door after HID decided that keypad entry locks on the back doors would be "cool" (spoiler: it's not, its friggin annoying)

What's wrong with the keypad? I love them on holiday and would happily have them at home. Saves taking a key out each time I go somewhere.

I’m often out in the workshop and wearing gloves and the pad thingy doesn’t like gloves. So I keep having to take them off. Laziness I know but wouldn’t need to if we hadn’t went all “cool”!

Other than replacing my wallet with my phone, that's exactly what I leave the house with!
I litterally just downloaded the post office easy id app for proof of age and identity without the need to carry driving licence (have a picture of that on my phone aswell for the tip)

I only need my phone for 95% of things , Google pay is the one

Edit the app stores a pic (encrypted) of my passport and driving licence so can show to people upon request

Only need the proper stuff for travel really and speeding fines

Once they perfect digital locks for home im not massively impressed ATM but I'll get one that I can unlock with my phone using my finger print

Had it at a Hilton the other day .. used my phone as the room key

........................ and if your phone was lost or stolen?

........................ and if your phone was lost or stolen?

Standard myth. It's encrypted.. you can't unlock it without face or finger print

Unless they cut off your fingers aswell

And the actual locks etc have back up keys or codes on them to override the lock

But neither can you...

You can tho, Google wallet is back up able , post office pass is back up to the cloud

Locks have overide keys or codes

Misunderstanding tech doesn't mean it doesn't work.

It's already proven Google pay is safer than a physical card

So you have to have a (backup) key or code(s) available - which becomes the weak point(s).

Weaker than what we have now?

A back up code is stored in your mind ..

Key everyone uses now ..

Smart tech has already proven itself it's just people don't understand how it works.

Maybe. If the backup key is not secure, then there's an obvious security isue. If it has to be carried around, then the only benefit of a hi-tec solution is convenience and potentially adds hassle. I'm fairly tech-savvy, but have forgotten several PINs and try to use only 1 or 2. Key has worked for hundreds of years. Smart tech should be simple, not require effort to understand (when understanding is required). Thre's a reason why many Project Proposals have Contingency sections almost as long as the actual proposed solution.
I'm not knocking tech (that was, after all, my business for over 40 years), just tempering the magic of it. Mobile phones are huge technologic benefit, but woe betide the chaos if, like I did once did, you leave it in the office!

......................... and cash is safer still.
I love cash, I just wish I had lots more of it.

Cash isn't safer. It's one of the most unsafe things. If you have your wallet taken and all the cards go. Plus say £100 cash

Anything spent on the cards can possibly be got back. Cash is gone ... So how is that safe?

Cards can be blocked cash can't

That's the thing it's the same as leaving your keys at the office.

Smart locks have finger prints so there is your override. You can't leave them behind no?

I have stopped carrying a wallet , if it was stolen its a pain. Few days without cards etc , cash gone and can't get it back

If your phone goes you can use an old one or buy new one and get access back very promptly with everything secure

Other month my card was cloned, nothing taken. The physical card took 2 weeks to come but Google pay was updated within 10 mins and I was able to use it as normal until the card arrived , which I never really use anyways

Take this lock for example, pin entry , phone entry, finger print so has the options there rather than others

Only thing that puts me off is the battery side

As I found out, it's not as simple as that! How do you ensure you can buy another phone or get to an old one? Carry sufficient cash or a card? carry your spare phone everywhere? Technology CAN be beneficial, but a serious amount of 'What if' contingency planning is likely reqd to avoid occasional SNAFUs. Oh and how was and how did you find out that your card had been cloned?
