Random Irritations

My wife always tuts when I use the strongest possible language when a pleasant sounding Indian lady calls to tell me there is a problem with my internet. But I know that she is a heartless scum bag who would happily drain all my life’s savings and leave us penniless. 🤬🤬🤬
To be fair, I've had a few myself and they're not always from the subcontinent. Thieves come in all guises.
My mum, 85, puts the phone down on everyone, even the genuine ones. With a "if you need to contact me, write a letter"

We have a call blocking option on our landline through Sky so it only accepts numbers we recognise. However, if somebody else calls and wants to speak to us, they are put on hold and we can decide whether to accept the call or not. It works really well and we get no cold calls.
For my mobile, it detects potential spam calls and I also have Bitdefender Mobile Security which also blocks a lot of spam calls.

WeBuyAnyCar.
About 6 months ago I used several similar sites to get a valuation for the FiL car as he's packed up driving and it was sitting on his drive gathering dust
My SiL was going to do the dealing as she lives close by...
Got the valuations and she decided which one was best/easiest and got rid of the car back in early December
The other 3 sites I used stopped sending emails within a month of the first enquiry
WeBuyAnyCar..?
Every week...without fail...even got one on Xmas day....
It's beco e an obsession...to see how long they'll keep chasing me to sell a car that was sold 6 weeks ago....
I wonder if they can keep it going for a whole year...

My mum got a call from the bank telling her that someone had tried to use her card to buy a car. They had the last 4 digits and expiry and send they were sending someone around to collect it. My mum agreed but fortunately her hairdresser arrived and put a stop to it.
They had actually got a local taxi company to collect it and he was a very nice guy to be fair.
I have now cut her card up and cancelled it and we have agreed I’ll keep her new card and help as much as I can
