Random Irritations

When I watch the news I feel I must be in USA rather than than UK.

If it not Trump trying to sort out wars, taking boats or countries or women being killed.

Please let me have some UK News

In some ways it’s good that there is someone else out there that’s making a right mess of things

Can always rely on the good ole us of a

Radio ad for a TV series Red Eye..it sounds...well, frighteningly bad....
JHC... an ad is supposed to make me want to watch/use/buy whatever the ad is about.
The delivery of the abysmally written script makes me cringe every time I hear it...
I will not be tuning in...gnawing my leg off would give me more pleasure...

Number 3

I realised the Sat Box remote is a multifunctional remote and intending to hit the power button I had switched the remotes function to audio use (the button next to the power button) after finding the old remote and using that.

Generally, our roads haven't been too bad for the last year...but in the last few weeks - unsurprisingly coinciding with the cold snap - they've turned into ploughed fields....
If only they maintained roads rather than repair them....

Sadly, round our way the roads have been in a shocking state of repair for a long time. It’s not just a winter thing.

We live in the sticks, and a number of the roads around here have seen the carriageway edges literally collapse because of agricultural vehicles and also heavy vehicles going to and from any new housing developments on the edge of the village. There are drop offs onto the verges which are well over six inches in most places, with frequent deep potholes. As a result of the carriageway edges failing, the white lines marking those edges have disappeared meaning that night driving, especially with oncoming traffic, has become hazardous.

I exchanged several emails with our County Council early last year, and was met with the response that they had no cash. I eventually told them that I had saved all my emails, and their dismissive responses, and that I would share them with both the police and Coroner’s Office in the event of a road fatality, if the condition of the road itself was found to be a factor. I pointed out that the excuse “we’re skint” would be unlikely to garner much in the way of sympathy from the Coroner in the event he ever established that a retired collision investigator had warned the Council countless times about the danger.

Within a fortnight of the last email the carriageway edges were repaired and the lining repainted. But the repairs were a botch job, and we are now back where we started.

During Covid the Council used the lack of cars on the road to resurface the A41 possibly the busiest road in the area.
It was perfect, needed doing and they did a great job.
A year later one of the utility companies dug it up....about 3-4 feet from the kerb and about half a mile long...for required work.
When they resurfaced it was like a ploughed field..horrendous work.
There were loads of complaints but nothing happened...most drivers were either inches from the kerb or inches from the white line, sometimes over it, to try and avoid the mess.

Nearly 4 years on and it's still the same....pitiful.

We have a similar stretch of road in to Dunfermline. Was resurfaced and was perfect. Then less than a year later house builders dug up strips across both carriageways for utilities and when they “repaired” them they left each one (6 in total about 12” wide) about an inch and a half below the main road surface. This got worse over time that they started acting like speed bumps where all traffic had to slow to a crawl to avoid the suspension from popping in to say hello.

House builder held to zero account for the mess.

The A41 as you can past the Blackthorn turn is tearing up tyres daily , then just before Waddesdon

And the turn off for the railway centre that junction is bad

But the new roundabout for the HS2 and the east west line ( completed for a year and still not used) is lovely 😂

David Coote only getting a suspended sentence- should be behind bars imo

For one Category A image I think he could have considered himself a bit unlucky in the event he had got a custodial sentence, if I’m honest.

Not condoning his behaviour, far from it. Merely drawing a comparison with others guilty in similar circumstances.

I simply haven't been on that stretch for 18 months or more....I go a different way..further but less painful.

Beleive there were also some videos off under age boys

It was one video (classed as a moving image) of a 15 year old boy that he was prosecuted for. As I say, absolutely not condoning it, but if that’s the nature of the offence, in the absence of previous offending history I’d have been really surprised if he had received a custodial.

Sadly, our prisons are not big enough to accommodate offenders like Coote.

I think he may well have wished he was in prison. He is now marked out as a paedo by society and as his face will be well known, where or what can he do now?

Timewasters on A Place in the Sun.
Absolute classic on this afternoon’s show.

2 brothers looking to buy in Spain, budget 225k.

They “love” 2 properties, both on the market for 219k. They decide to make an offer on one of them. The offer is 180k. Presenter asks why so low? They say they want to put in air con and build a garage.

The sellers tell them they will accept 193k. Sounds like a right result, but they say they won’t budge from 180k, but now wish to put an offer on the other property.

Presenter asks how much? They say 180k. Presenter says “hang on, that property is perfect, fully furnished, why so low? They say they want to upgrade the plunge pool.

Sellers come down to 215k, the brothers refuse to up their offer at all, end of programme.

Where do they get these chancers from?
