I forced encouraged mine to go and watch a Somerset T20 game. They have no connection to Somerset (other than seeing their Dad cheer on the team) as they weren’t born there and live 200 miles away; and not all that much interest in cricket beyond playing it at school.

Tempted them by telling them they might meet Brian (Brian is a locally famous cat that lives at the ground). He was keeping a low profile so … they didn’t

Joke’s on me really - had to take them to an arena pop concert full of screamy teenagers in return.

Being “spoiled rotten” does not define a good childhood. Spending quality time with your kids does. I treasure the memories of my Dad taking me to Ibrox, Hampden, museums, the shows, the pantomime, the tattoo etc. much more than any present.

BTW, I’m not criticising you or anyone else on here.
