Random Irritations

Probably because people are scared/unwilling to embrace the technology? In my industry (defence/aerospace) AI is being used to automate a lot of the processes to make things more efficient. Sometimes they are automating things just for the sake of it and there is no actual benefit but on the whole things are getting better.
Yeah, I'm sure SkyNet will replace all of us within the next 20 years but for now I'll just crack on.

Hardly Skynet :ROFLMAO:
Half of the issues can be done by not allowing the document to be uploaded if fields are blank - version number, date, etc. This is no different than the type of forms that online shopping companies use to ensure you can't place an order without entering your full details and life history so they can bombard you with spam ;)

My son asking if I can help him with a job starting today, only needed today and probably just for a few hours.
Up this morning ready to go and no sign of him so I call him and he says oh I’ve moved it to tomorrow, I said ok but I’m still charging you for today he says I’m not paying you for either day.

Well, it was good, but the model they all reckoned was the Linn Sondeck.
Didn’t have one myself, but I had a Thorens with a Hadcock arm, unipivot.
and Quad amps. Later , I had a NAD 3020, , but not as good, IMO, as the Quads.
Those were the days…..
It got real daft, I remember a magazine writer,Ken, someone, rating a Japanese cart ridge made from rosewood selling for £500. A fortune back then.
That would have been Ken Kessler.

Good job he didnt start (probably did) on the Lapis Lazuli cartridges.

Just rung my leasing company with query about our car.
Existing customer press 3.
Two minutes later no reply, hang up.
Redial.
New enquiries press 1.
Guess what?

There’s always a way of getting a reply.

Several years ago I had a very healthy credit balance with my gas supplier. I wanted it refunded and a reduction in my direct debit, as I was clearly paying way over the odds.

They wouldn’t answer the phone, reply to emails or respond to “live” chat. I tried multiple times over a couple of weeks. In the end I just cancelled my direct debit.

Within 24 hours they were all over me like a tramp diving on a half eaten bag of chips.

As I am discovering. The constitution industry likes change about as much as senior golfers do 🤣

The resistance to change and mistrust of anything that could be considered progress is staggering.

As it happens I am currently working on a solution to the exact problem Orikoru describes for a client. The main problem I am facing is a complete unwillingness to engage. It appears the construction industry is built on mistrust, lies and deceit and nobody appears brave enough to want to stop it.

The technology used and people who set the standards just makes the problems worse. The checking of basic information as described by Orikoru is actually very simple, it is made far more complicated than it needs to be as every project uses a slightly different adaptation of a numbering standard, usually altered by the main contractors BIM experts who are desperate to show everyone how much of an expert they are by making everything as complicated as possible.

We have agents that can process through thousands of documents in less time than it takes to upload them. The problems are always with the shocking inconsistency in the information provided. Our test information flies through.

The other major issue in the industry is people’s willingness to cut corners and issue unchecked information to hit an arbitrary deadline.

Just had a walk to Tesco express to get me mum Some Xmas cards whilst me
Dad has his hair cut. I was smiling inside looking at all the kids coming outta the comp skool Like I did 45 plus years ago. Whilst in Tesco I was the woman behind the till “ do you get any hassle off them”. She said “loads do shop Lifting and we have caught loads”. “But we cannot inform
The school”. I asked why and she said “ we have not been told why, just that we cannot”. And she also said “ so the kids know nothing will Happen when they are caught, they are just told
To put it back”. 😳

It's a similar nightmare at ours. When they can they have staff on the door restricting entry numbers, but it's overwhelming. Shoplifting aside, the amount of cash the kids spend is eye watering. Then, next door, a Greggs opened with outside seating. The kids occupy it for hours. There's some serious spending in that short time slot.

Car went in to body shop for paint job that'll take a week or so. I picked up a courtesy car when I dropped it off - to be told that I was liable for any damage on my own car insurance. Sorry....what? Don't think I've ever had to cover a courtesy car on my own insurance - or maybe it's always the case just I've never realized it or indeed bee told. Anyway... we have decided we will do without a courtesy car with the risk of damage and cost to us. We'll survive with our other car. Courtesy car is going back tomorrow.

What other insurance would the courtesy car be under ?

It’s standard, just like running your own car….

It was a courtesy car that looked to be owned by the garage, I expected them to have insurance cover for it with me being a temporary named driver. When booking my car in I was asked if I needed a courtesy car…no mention was made that I’d have to cover it under my own insurance.
