Random Irritations

My Mrs has recently received Grant of Probate for her mother and as a result DWP are looking to my mrs (as executor of the estate) to pay back a good few hundred £s of incorrectly paid state pension. What's irritating about that you might ask?

Well - a little bit of research to find out how long we have to pay the DWP that overpayment, and I discover that the repayment is voluntary...voluntary! My Mrs now has a choice and a decision to make..and though I am confident that we will pay the DWP out of the estate (I haven't yet broken the news to her), I suspect some might choose to just ignore the request...even if the estate can afford to pay...and it is that which is most irritating.
 
Having a real problem today...
The Mrs is off...The Boy is off...we're all home..
Just doesn't feel like a Tuesday....feels like a Sunday..
It's doing my head in...o_O

Turned up and met head salesman first, fully suited and booted.
Then met managing director in Jeans and jumper.
We decided it was a score draw but I definitely know who was most comfortable all day.
Plus he had new shoes and moaned about blisters all the way home 😂

Broke the news to my mrs and of course she is going to repay the DWP - though she’ll wait until some funds are released by her mum’s bank. How many will not be like my mrs and just tell the DWP to take a hike 🤬

The explanation is simply that they paid her state pension into her bank account after she’d passed away…we can see the money going into her mum’s bank account. DWP make repayment requests to the executor of the deceased estate - my wife only a few weeks ago got Grant of Probate and so only then became executor for the estate.

She has no issues whatsoever doing the correct thing as a responsible taxpayer and citizen - you can work out quite easily what about three weeks pension amounts to if you’re wondering how much we are talking about…it’s not tuppence.

I looked after my brother in laws money when he was in a care home with dementia, sadly he died. His only income (with no assets) was his state pension which mainly went to the local authority as payment for his care. I also received a letter asking for the return of some pension monies. When I looked into it, I found out that they only write once to ask for the return of an overpayment and that only 50% is paid back. I think the source of the information was Martin Lewis Money Expert website.

We will go back to the bank account to check the amount.

What a farce this is turning into.

I messaged the seller saying they had sent the wrong item. They asked for photos, which I sent. They then asked for more photos, no idea why, sent them.

Then they asked if I had received a wooden pole cover!

I told them no, and would they please either send me the correct item, or issue a refund.

They responded offering me a partial refund of £3 (head cover was £9) and I could keep the shin pads! I'm convinced they are either playing for time, hoping I'll give up, or are just taking the proverbial ...
