Random Irritations

Due to pick up my step-son from Stansted....flight was supposed to take off from Majorca at 21:05 local time, due in at 22:35.

An hour before due departure the web was tellling me the flight would leave at 21:35.

At the original due departure time the web told me the flight would leave at 21:50

Now the flight is due to leave at 22:20...due to land just before midnight.

At this rate I'm going to have cancel my 10am tee time!!!

(The local Spanish airport is apparently blaming French air traffic control)

On a golf trip with 6 other people. One of the guys in the bar where we ate ordered steak. Fine but it was literally twice the price of every other main course. Did he offer to pay more when the bill came in? No 😡.

A few quid difference doesn't matter but that much............poor

You should have said something, I would have.

If he was in our group he’d be warned he better not fall asleep first.

I mulled it over but it was day 1 and I didn't want to make the rest of the trip awkward. You are probably right and if he pulls the same move tomorrow I'll probably put on my big boy pants and say something. Disappointing to be put in that situation though.

Aye, plenty people like that. BTW, why are steaks such a rip off? Then the rip you an extra fiver for a sauce.
So glad I don’t eat meat.

Or, just wait til he falls asleep and give him a monk haircut.

Split between the 6 of you how much extra was it?
£2-£3?
Personally it wouldn’t bother me.

For anyone that says its only two or three quid difference. The boy that ordered the steak is looking at the same menu and seen what everyone else has ordered and knows his cost more than everyone else. If he offered to chuck an extra score in I'd probably say it's alright, but he should offer.

Everyone else's was £15-16, the steak was £30. You are right in that the cost per person was only £2-3 each which is nothing really. It isn't the cost, it's the not offering when your item is twice the price. It's a principle thing, be aware and don't take the Mickey.

Did he forgo a start compared to others / did he drink less?

It’s a tough one - we have someone who always have steak but every time he says that he will pay a little extra but we tell him not to bother because he at least offers

In LT's case, I think it's fair to say to deduct the £15 difference in meals off the total, and then everyone pay a share of that and the steak lad can add his extra £15 to that.

People who cane the whip, or perpetually order the expensive options in shared environments really don't get enough stick.
The last couple of years, I've used splitwise on the golf trips I organise. It's not perfect, but I think the mentality it encourages - that other people aren't going to pay for your food/drink is a good thing and tends to encourage less antisocial behaviour.
My children, who have grown up with banking apps and money transfer apps consider a whip to be a weird historical artifact.

What’s split wise?
