The Blackwall Tunnel has been free to use since it opened in 1897. It is the second busiest Thames river crossing after The Dartford crossing on the M25.

From Monday I will have to pay £4 each time I use it as part of an “agreement” to pay for the new Silvertown tunnel, a scheme so ill conceived and inept that it will have the opposite effect on what it is designed to do. Alleviate the traffic congestion around East London. Why do we get infrastructure so badly wrong in this country?

Glentrool to Loch Doon is a fair old distance in one night.
Loch Doon is not too far from us with a lot of forestry in between.

Saturday did a gravel ride, flew out and was at least 20 min quicker even with a really long steep climb. On the turn back, the cold easterly was a killer. Really cold, despite how sunny it was. Lovely in parts. Glad I wore decent gloves. Same again this morning.

The oldest still playing senior had his 90th birthday a year or so back, the Seniors did him a special lunch.

In his speech at the lunch, he said in reply to the question, "are you looking forward to being 100?" he said,

"Yes, as long as I can still wipe my own arse!"

Mindful of the ban on political comment, it's nevertheless hilarious to hear some folk's opinion of tarriffs seem dependent on who is invoking them.
