Random Irritations

The Blackwall Tunnel has been free to use since it opened in 1897. It is the second busiest Thames river crossing after The Dartford crossing on the M25.

From Monday I will have to pay £4 each time I use it as part of an “agreement” to pay for the new Silvertown tunnel, a scheme so ill conceived and inept that it will have the opposite effect on what it is designed to do. Alleviate the traffic congestion around East London. Why do we get infrastructure so badly wrong in this country?

Saturday did a gravel ride, flew out and was at least 20 min quicker even with a really long steep climb. On the turn back, the cold easterly was a killer. Really cold, despite how sunny it was. Lovely in parts. Glad I wore decent gloves. Same again this morning.

The BBC’s Faisal Islam (supposed economics expert) and his continual misleading reporting that WE pay the US tariffs as some sort of tax.

Absolute muppetry.

Edited to clarify the direction of the tariff in question.

And those that don't understand who is paying them! It's the person(s) importing the item that pays, not the person(s) exporting the product.
