Random Irritations

Eldest just announced a kid at school split strawberry fruit shoot on her arm and it's now itching

That explains the asthma pump this afternoon

Didn't start to effect my wife until her teens. Looks like it's affecting her earlier 😕

A mate of mine has a pal who looks after the financial affairs of 28 exceptionally wealthy families.
27 of those families have already left this country!
The unfortunate bit about Britain today is that we will 'celebrate' these departures.. 'we dont need them' will be the rhetoric from the chest beaters. But irrespective if you like them or not, we need wealthy to be in the country.

Is there a go to country? I'm always intrigued where rich people run off too? Switzerland or Monaco are the obvious but if i was that rich, I wouldn't pick either.

it depends on what you want to do.. Plenty of options.. The Caribbean (Branson) or Singapore (Dyson). If it takes your fancy then Dubai, Greece, Portugal, NZ etc. If you have the money, then the world is your oyster (literally)

Bonkers to think otherwise. What tax income would there be if all we were left with was those earning under the tax threshold...

But hey they're rich - they must be awful.

Isn't part of the reason for the enormous boom in property prices in London (which has trickled into the rest of the country) due to huge investment from overseas as the property taxes in the UK, and therefore London, are so much lower than in other major capital cities?
Not all investment is good investment.

Apparently, Portugal is very popular and very welcoming.
I guess it ultimately depends where you genuinely want to live. If you have that much money, live where you want, pay your tax. If you have that much money, why are you compromising? Money should give you the freedom to live wherever. To find some people restricting where they live because they have lots of money just sounds strange to me. Different mindset I guess.

Apparently less so from next year. The expat retiree tax advantage is being removed. It wasn't popular with the locals who had to pay higher tax than the foreigners.

Spain is removing the golden visa. Basic rate of tax here is 21%, and the tax allowance is €12,000 = £10,000
