Random Irritations

I've deleted Twitter and Instagram as there is just no point to either for reasons you state above.

LinkedIn is now full of rubbish too. I'm tempted to delete that although it's the only way I contact some people.

The way this forum is going, it could be next. 🪓
If LinkedIn is going to maintain it's credibility as THE business networking site, it really needs to make sure it clamps down on some of the stuff that goes on there.

Our washing machine is in the garage and feeds into an external drain. A couple of months ago the external drain became blogged. I cleared the water out, arm down the drain, dragged out quite a bit of silt, the water went through okay again. This afternoon, same again. I haven't cleared all of the water out but shoved my arm in to feel for any blockage. I couldn't feel one but my arm was stinking. I've washed it multiple times with soap, washing up liquid and also the solvent, liquid soap leftover from covid. The smell is still lingering 🤢.

Oh, and the drain is still blocked 🙄
When I worked at the pit one of our jobs was pit head baths. Every year it was drain cleaning time. Imagine every day thousands of men using showers. The nicer stuff was soap and shampoo. However when it gets cold it sets then sets then sets. So we had to blast it out with drain rods. However that was ok outside. But inside there was load of U bends which rods would not touch. What did the Job was Acid based drain cleaner. We used it by the gallon and wore loads of Personnel Protective equipment.( PPE).It took no prisoners. If you can get hold of it, it’s excellent. Twisting facts to make a point when their really isn't one.

Sport website hailing the win against Fiji as being a big thing as it was their first knockout round victory since they beat New Zealand in 2019. The fact is true enough but omits to mention that they have only played one knockout match since then, the World Cup final that they lost in 2019. The fact is true enough but it does not actually prove anything except that we lost a World Cup final but have not had a long string of knockout defeats like it implies.

QI once stated that there are more black 16 year old boys in prison than at college.
A terrible fact until you realise, on the whole, you have to be 17 to start college
No. Further education and sixth form colleges start at 16, on the whole - after GCSEs (O-Levels).

As you say, this is aggressive stuff, usually >90% concentrated Sulphuric Acid. I know, I used to work with it and sell it. You have to be extremely careful how you handle it, be aware that it eats through lots of things so you have to make sure where you are pouring it into can handle that strength, and also not leave it in for a long time as it could find its way out of joints and seals and cause some serious damage.
It's good at doing it's job, but just thought it best to make the point.
I know I used to be able to get it from B&Q but I'm not sure if they stock it anymore.

Back in the day we used a company called arrow chemicals. Based around Derbyshire.Swadlincote I think.Anyway the stuff came bolted in the back of a car so it wouldn’t fall over or it would be safe in a crash. It was very very good stuff. Problem is with colliers. They always want to take stuff home. They always had another use for it at home. Not that stuff. Acid based toilet cleaner is good for alloy wheels 😉
A guy at Rufford pit mixed some bleach with a nice smelly floor cleaner, the toxic cloud it created nearly wiped out half the men in the pit head baths 🫣😖👍

I used to use One Shot, and was sulphuric acid. It was safe on plastic pipes, but not copper or cast iron.
You could tell when it was working, as the pipe would get really hot in the locality of what it was eatign away.
However, since it was used as a weapon, it is almost impossible to buy it. Plus the water companies hate it being used.

Health & Safety would have a field day with that now! o_O:eek::ROFLMAO:

Oh you can have some real "fun" if you mix the wrong stuff with bleach (Sodium Hypochlorite)!
Leak at Time Capsule Glasgow

Maybe if we don’t hear from LT for a bit he might have mixed a cocktail. 😳😁👍
Boom 🤣.

One of the products we sell at work is a specialist floor paint. Every so often we get an enquiry asking if it can cope with spills of acetone, literally paint remover, or sulphuric acid 😳. Err, no. Think about the question people.

Thankfully my limited experience with nasty chemicals is enough that I know whilst I might want to use them I also know that I shouldn't use them. No booms here 😄

Cutting two 8ft plywood boards, that cost £130 each, in to 4 panels and finding out your t-square is off by 0.2 degrees 🤦‍♂️.
I feel your pain.
I once fitted a 3metre roller blind outside recess. I used my small spirit level as I was feeling too lazy to go out to car to get a longer one.
I got a call that night from customers husband to say blind was not level.
Turned out he was a carpenter and told me I was 11 mill out. He let me use his long level as I refitted it.
As he pointed out, "The wider you go the further out you will be".
Lesson learned! 🙄
