Ram it in..or tickle it in

A nice drill I learned for short putts (2 to 5 feet) is to put an alignment stick or a club down directly in front of the cup. You then putt over the stick/shaft with just enough speed to get the ball over and dropping into the hole. If you hit it too softly, it won't make it over, if you hit it to hard, it will jump over the hole. Try it out. It looks a bit intimidating at first, but it really helped me finding a good consistent speed for putts that length.
 
On slightly breaking 3 footers, do what Peter Allis advises and just confidently walk up and mark it...

Reminds me when Sam Torrance was commentating and he made a remark about Mark James's putting

"I'll finish........I'll finish again.......I'll mark" :eek:
