Question....who should get the Trophy?

I'd of thought Player 1 gets both trophies and 1st prize scratch prize. player 2 gets the first prize HC prize voucher and player 3 gets 2nd prize scratch prize.

To answer the OP.

I think its right player 1 gets the Scratch and player 2 gets the handicap. If you shoot the lowest then you deserve the top prize. Player 3 is unlucky.

I'd feel wrong going home with a trophy and telling people there was someone in with a better score than me.

So if player 1 gets the scratch the guy that gets the HC is not the lowest HC. The question is what gets priority.....nothing else.

I think as its primarily a handicap competition then the h/cap trophy is the big prize with scratch bringing up the rear so to speak.

If I had lowest gross score Then I'd consider myself the best golfer on the day and I'd be pi££ed off if they only gave me the nett trophy.

Let's face it, the only reason there is a nett trophy is to give more people a chance to win something so that the same guys don't win over and over again but deep down we all know it's all about gross score

Whatever

I think Countback shoudl be abolished as a method of deciding prizes

Surely our combined brain power can come up with something better than countback

I won best gross in a medal years ago, 2 under par off 3 and won zip. Came about 6th or 7th net. :(

Monthly medals are nett comps though. If there was a prize for best gross, as there was in this case, you'd have won it.

I've said it before on here, Having lowest gross next to my name in the monthly medal would mean more to me than winning £30 pro shop vouchers for lowest nett.

I guess it's all about how you view the game of golf. For me, h'caps and nett scores mean I have a chance to win, not that I very often do, but the best golfer on the day is the bloke who takes the least shots.

Player 1 had the best scratch, and the best HC after countback, he received only the scratch trophy.

Player 2 The next best HC, received the HC trophy.

Player 3 had the next best scratch but gets no trophy.

Sounds about right, although depending on comp conditions player1 could take both

In my mind, the scratch.

Any suggestions?

Well, Harry Hill reckons there's only one way to settle this..... FIGHT! :D

Interesting replies. My take on it, only a few people have a realistic chance of winning the scratch. Unless it’s a specific scratch comp then 1st HC should always take priority.

The interesting thing is the scratch trophy has only just been added, for many many years it was a HC only trophy. Now the scratch trophy has taken priority.

Whatever way you look at this, the real HC winner got the scratch trophy and the second HC player got the winning HC trophy.

Not being allowed to win both the scratch and the nett trophies is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard and nails home the point that nett competitions are completely biased towards higher handicappers.
