Question for the handicap sec's of the forum.

Today I completed my third card in can only be described as some of the most inconsistent golf I have played so far this year, the fact I ended up only +14 is amazing.

Anyway my cards have been as follows
+20 +16 and finally +14. Our club handicap sec advised I'm likely to be off 14 as they accept the Best of the three, is this correct. As our course is pay and play our handicaps are through congu

Yep. They'll take the best and give you that handicap assuming Standard Scratch Score is the same as Par.
Many courses have a SSS lower than Par - mine is 69 against 70. Some have even more difference. So if your course is Par 72 but SSS is 70 then you'll be judged against 70 so your +14 becomes +16.

Our SSS is 67 against a par of 68 so I guess 14+1=15, which would be about right ad I've been unofficially playing all year off 16 and most commonly finish between 33-38 points

Don't forget that anything higher than a double bogey should be adjusted to a double for calculating your handicap.

If I remember right your +16 had 2 x 8's in it on par 4's?

They should be amended to 6's giving you a +12 and handicap of 13.

Did todays +14 have any triples or worse?

Two triples although for the first time ever I par'd the si 1 and being from the whites made it sweeeeeeeeet

2. when you have had a handicap previously, that should be taken into consideration when deciding on a new handicap.

But how can a high score be reduced a a nett double bogey when you've you no handicap to allocate shots against because you're playing for it?

Bobmac you just confused the he'll out of me with the double triple situation. Either way congu come back with that so just need to lob 3 off by chrismas . If you thing about it that puts me cat 3 so it's only 10 x .3
