The committee has no such discretion.

well that’s against all sorts of CONGU regulations

It’s either full Qualfiying for all or if the course is not at the required level it’s non qualfiying for all.

They can’t be using “committee discretion” - that’s going back old style

All scores must be entered into the system and there are ways to do that without having anyone touch a card beyond one person

And should be reported to county if they proceed.

What if this said club, responded by saying the county HAD sanctioned this method of running competitions...??

Would you say its highly unlikely, and most probably just trying to silence a club member...... ?

Then either the club is lying to silence a club member or the county are ignoring the rules

Just quote the rules to them and email the county ?

Do you have absolutely zero ability to think in a common sense manner?

Who said anything about both players touching the card?

Ignoring the many sensible suggestions about online scoring, it's got to be extremely obvious surely that players' scores should be marked by a playing partner and not by themselves when there's an option. Is it beyond your realms of comprehension to see how you could pick up your own pen and sign something without actually touching it?

Not with my arthritic fingers.:)

I would repeat the point - why ask players to sign as markers when it is no longer required by the R&A?

Even if you don't have the capacity for scores to be inputted by an app on phones, you're not stuck, You do not need a physical card to be filled in by your marker, signed by both and handed in. Electronic return of scores is acceptable with oral verification of them by your marker. For example, at the end of a round you read out your scores to your marker and he agrees them against his own note of them. You return your scores by email. The crunch point is the task of manually dealling with the scores but that could be shared. Some old codger in your club will no doubt take the opportunity of regaling you with tales of how long it took to process competition scores in the good old pre-computer days if you complain. :)

Played a comp today. The guys on the gate ticked us as entering (if we wanted) and the list will go to the office and they'll take the £3 off the indidual's account. One card per group which went into a box behind the 18th. The club will process these in due course and enter them into PSI. No idea of the time frame or how they plan to do it (gloves/mask etc) but just happy to be out in a competitive game again. I did use Toptracer at a range but that was wiped before and after each person used the bay as part of their general clean down after each customer but not sure how stringent it would be done on PSI especially if left to members to do and whether it would even be possible to have someone there wiping the screen after each use. Far happier the club deal with it all

We successfully played our first qualifier yesterday using Player Score Input via the Masterscoreboard website (Handicapmaster software). Everything went very smoothly with many players entering their scores before leaving the course but a couple of minor hiccups. One player had to be talked through the process of registering/logging in to the website, one said he had lost his card after verifying scores (very suspicious as he had a bad round after playing well since we restarted playing) and one who went off to see his parents, wasn't answering his messages and entered his scores at 10.30 in the evening.
