Crunched the numbers on Scheffler’s 16 competitive rounds this year.
Factored in the course and slope ratings for the course and made an approximate adjustment for championship conditions.

Some of these courses are rated between 76-78 with slopes between 145-150 which are incomprehensible in difficulty to mortals.

My estimation is that he is currently a +8.7 handicap.

I think it would be a fun addition to the OWGR purely for illustrative purposes to include a column to show what their performances mean in real terms to the every day player and might help with their understanding of the WHS a little more.

Also could foster a greater appreciation of how good these guys & girls on tour actually are.

A bit of simple code and formula and this could easily be done.

Thoughts?
Pointless or a useful tool to provide a bit more perspective?

I believe Christian Maas had an official handicap of +8.1 last year.

Anyone heard of an amateur handicap better than that?

Not heard of higher than that but when we hosted the Carris Trophy a few years ago we had four players above +7.0 playing.

This site has Bryson a +9.9: https://handicap-tracker.com/
But that's his YouTube rounds only, none of his pro rounds on LIV etc. The Bryan Bros are on there, both around +6.

It would be cool if an unofficial rankings site such as Data Golf brought this in. Their handicaps would be changing a lot though, since the last 20 rounds for them is only their last five events, assuming they made the cut in all.

Here is the one it referred to, it was a Tweet that I screenshotted.

Edit: Of course, since he went to LIV and lost his competitive edge he'd only be around a +9 now I should think.
No idea how many shots he would have been giving up at my course as the table only goes up to +5 where they give 8 shots. Our assistant pro plays in our winter group and is +4.5 so PH is +7. We also had to change some of the criteria to win 'bits' for him as it would be too easy for him to get birdies and sandy pars, etc and skew the winnings for him and his playing partner :ROFLMAO:

If England Golf app has it right, he'd be off +15 course handicap at my place. So he's allowed to make three pars, the rest have to be birdies. I guess he'd make a handful of eagles to offset that though. And he'd be giving me 24 shots in a match.

That’s crazy!!

Question is…
On your home track and his first look giving those shots, what would the matchplay score realistically be?

We spoke about it in the thread that was linked above, but I'd just have to hope our greens are a bit of a leveler. I consider them fairly quick and very slopey, but by the standards of what he's used to, they're probably very slow. Hopefully that means he has to settle for pars on the holes where he can't drive the greens, and as they would be two-shot holes for me (strokes 1 to 6) I then have a reasonable chance of winning those with a bogey.

On the flip side, unfortunately there are five par 4s he could realistically drive the green on (yardages between 275 to 330), plus two par fives that would play as regular par 4s to him (490 & 510), so that's seven easy birdies with chances of making eagle while I'd be lucky to birdie one of them and maybe par three or four of them on a good day. The three longest par 3s of 219, 176 and 172 probably wouldn't be causing him any problems whereas for me they are pretty tough to make par on.
