Fantastic bounce back if he can do it.
Superb win for the lad after losing out at the Players. Really clutch down the stretch and did what he needed to do so well. 30 Pars and 6 Birdies in his last 36 holes is phenomenal.

Some birdie at the last for Penge as well to secure a top 4 finish. Seems to be finding his feet now his family are more settled.

Good job for Fitzy Penge didn’t need that shot to go in to force a play off😂😂

Was just reading about BdC's win in the latest LIV competition and what stood out was the winning score - 26 under par. I then had a quick look at the scores over the past few weeks in both the LIV and the PGA to compare. The winning score in LIV is usually well under the -20 score whilst to win on the PGA you only need to score in the mid teens. Not wanting to start any sort of conspiracy theory, but are LIV setting up courses to be easier to show their players are better than those on the PGA Tour?

I don't think anyone sees a low score and thinks better players. Do they not think easy course? That's my thinking if I see a score that low.

Not really. It's just the reality of tour suitable golf courses - and the need for them to be playable for members/fee paying tourists every other week of the year.
The PGA Tour has more than enough stops where the winning score is 20+ under par.
Bay Hill, Sawgrass & Innisbrook just happen to be back-to-back on the schedule and are consistently in the top-10 most difficult courses on the tour.

But you are looking at it from a golfer's perspective. When LIV want to 'Grow the Game' and get more non golfing people interested in their tour, do they not show the lower scores as meaning better players?

I don’t think you get many “non golfers” watching tour events outside the majors

And growing the games will always happen at grassroots level

Wasn't one of the things that LIV was set up to do was to 'Grow the Game'? The music, the stars, the format - all to get new people in to golf? Maybe they should have asked on here before setting out with a flawed business model :ROFLMAO:

Many sports come with a tagline of “growing the game”

Growing the game will always be at the the grass roots etc

Pro leagues can get involved that way etc

But 99% of the time someone watching a golf event either on telly or at the course they will already be a golf fan

The best that that grew golf - Covid

Steyn City is a 7500+ yard golf course, but it's at altitude so will play under 7000 yards in real terms. Course was wet, greens were soft. It leans into low scores.

As for growing the game, I think about 30% of the LIV audience is made up of people that don't golf - so I 'd say that's a pretty impressive number, and they've just hosted the biggest golf event that South Africa has ever held, despite pushback from the existing organisations and people in golf.

that 30% figure is LIV's own data, and hasn't been verified by anyone else

How do they know that it’s 30% that don’t “play golf” - or is it 30% that don’t have any interest in golf ?

And how many of that 30% then starting to play or watch golf

Why would an event in South Africa have any pushback when there have been golf events in South Africa for decades 🤷‍♂️

It stands to reason because you’d have to be clueless about golf to find watching LIV worthwhile 🤣
Stands to reason you have to be biased to not be able to accept that LIV will appeal to others and to hold such a narrow minded view of those that enjoy it. It’s still golf and it’s still got some excellent players, but because it upset the big boys everyone that doesn’t like change has to belittle or its fans 🙄

I enjoy all sorts of golf, PGAT, DPWT, LET, LPGA oh and LIV because I can accept it’s still golf just different from the others and don’t need belittle people for enjoying different things 🤷🏼

Spot on

doesn't make it accurate either, just a claim, so would be pretty stupid to repeat that claim as proof of anything

Whatever, I think anybody who follows LIV recognises that they are picking up viewers and attendees that aren't traditional golf fans. They're also pulling in significant crowds in locations that have been starved of top level golf - a good thing for the game, I'm sure we can all agree on that. (y)
