Poulter pulls out of Singapore Open

I am not trying to find excuses for him, just trying think of me in that situation (that would be the day)

Maybe he pulled out because he thougt, well I dont feel confident enough to win it with out my friver and so I dont want to waste funding in hotels etc? I dunno, maybe he had some kins of personal commitments that he could be taking care of who knows?

I Still think its a bit sad what he is doing, but does he really deserve all the stick? At the end of the day, Golf is a sport, sport is fun, if your not going to have fun why participate? I know he makes a living from it, but bloody hell am sure pro's are allowed a few days off like the rest of us

Sure, but then why not say, I'm not going to play, becuase I don't want to. However, the sponsors wouldn't like that, so you need an excuse, hence the driver story. Just tell the truth. I don't want to play in this tournament, I have changed my mind. Tell me your dog is dead, anything, but don't say you would love to play, but Cobra can't get you a new driver in time.

"Apparently, if he plays, and plays badly, he will lose out on world ranking points."

This was a statement in one of the early posts on this thread.

This is exactly why a certain Mr Woods will not play certain courses where he doesn't like the grass mix on the greens!

Poulter may be a bit of a Prima Donna, but compared with the others of his era he has incredible self confidence. Just look at his stats for this years Ryder Cup. That was after a real verbal roasting from press and fans alike.

I'm still not sure he will ever win a Big one, but this year has shown he can handle it if he wants to. Just remember, he sold mars bars to the members a few years ago. You have to be an arrogant, self centred prima donna to make that kind of progress.

ps still don't really like him though.

It was stated in todays paper that he would only need the driver 4 times per round so I think he is just being a petulant little pr**k.

Has anyone thought that Cobra might not value him as highly as he values himself. I bet they are well pi55ed at the bad press they are getting.
