Par 3 and you cant carry the water? What would you do?

Why am i the only one on here who admits to not being very long ................on the course :o

You're not. :o

Nowt wrong with a 100 yard tee shot, unless you duff it of course.

or it was 100 with a driver. :D

Can you putt it down the cart path?

You can't Tim, the path isn't long enough. :)

There's a hole I play often with bunkers I can't carry. I just hit it up the path between...I mean it's not so hard, it's a least 3 yards wide at 215. :D

Ok a bit confused as this question has a very obvious answer,if you cant carry the water the only option is to lay up.However depending on the length of the hole of course.

Sorry not meant to confuse the lay up would take u about 100 yards from the tee so would look really weird playing it
:o

As weird as taking a 12 because you keep driving it in the water? Do what you need to do to get it down in as few shots as possible.

Only played bootle once can't remember the hole your talking about, mostly play at fiddlers ferry at the moment also play lee park and huyton prescot.

Good point Hawkeye

Im playing Lee Park in a couple of weeks ....im trying to give Stuart C a false sense of security with this post....in truth i am Timgolfy ......u can read about me on twitter..............

Our 3rd hole involves a reasonable drive (180 or so carry) over a protected environmental area. One of our Saturday roll up regularly fails to make the carry so has taken to hitting it over to the 7th hole running the other way, bypassing the hazard, playing down the 7th fairway for two and then coming onto the green. The problem is he's not always good enough to even hit a wedge or 9 iron into the right place!

I guess the only answer is to lay up. Mind you there are some holes like the 17th at Silveremere where there really isn't an option to do that. Water in front and to the right and thick trees and the cart path to the left. There really is no bale out area. The hole is only 160 ish yards so shouldn't be too intimidating for most but if you decided you couldn't make it I'm not sure what your options would be.

Play safe. Lay up with a putter if you have to.

As someone said its better to lay up than keep getting your balls wet! ;-)

Ash!!

Thats just not cricket (golf) though is it??? although not breaking any rules is it in the spirit......to start another discusion.....there must be a hole somwhere in the land that u can play across another fairway to avoid a dog leg and knock a shot or 2 of your score???

I like your way of thinking.

I know a par five that can be turned into a short par 4. It involves hitting over an out of bounds area. No-one apart from a monster driver could carry it, but you can clatter through with some luck. When someone did it to me, I was nearly tempted to battered them to death with a 3 iron.

Our 13th hole is a par 5.
The 11th runs parallel the other way. Our illistrious Greenkeepers have divided the fairway of the 13th with a patch of rough about 30 yards long across the whole fairway - I keep ending up in it. Not too bad as I can still reach the green in 2 from there.
But if I go right of the big trees and land on the 11th fairway I can get an extra 20-30 yards on a straight drive and have an even shorter shot to the green.
Doesn't work out many times but it's an option.

Unless of course you hook it into the trees on the left...Twice
a recent medal score of 10 on that hole springs to mind....Wasnt that the one where you lost the medal by 2 shots?

Nobody likes to witness that

Fragger

Yes I know I scored 11 on another hole, but I know im crap so its OK
