Outrageous behaviour

I had the misfortune of witnessing the most terriable behaviour of a golfer over the weekend.

It was the Captains day, so prizes galore, but from the 7th tee area I saw a golfer on the 17th green, thin his chip from one side of the green off to the other side. His reaction to this was to launch his wedge over arm into the green at great pace. It bounced some 12 feet across he green, meaning that he gave it some welly.

My playing parters and I were disgusted.

I really didn't want the hassle, but we couldn't make out who he was. He was dressed all in black, but so were half the players on Saturday.

When we got to the 17th there were damn great chunks dug in the green! :mad:

Anyone got any similar tales?

How on earth do folks think that this is exceptable behaviour?
 
One person (hacker!) was about to hit a shot off one of our greens but thankfully somebody told him to stop. The person didn't know about the dropping off the green rule!
 
If I was you I'd report it to the committee. Did you recognise anyone else in the group or in the group ahead on the 18th or behind which would make it easy to whittle it down.

I've thrown more than the odd club in my time but never in a way that would take chunks out of a green. I hope he gets found out and a lengthy ban
 
I played with a young guy (about 24 ish) in a 36 hole pro event last year.
His dad caddied for him all day.
He shot 70 in the morning but didnt fare so well in the afternoon, heading for about a 78.
On the 36 hole he had missed the green left behind a bunker.
He fluffed his lob shot into the bunker, walked in, picked it up and NR'd on the last green.
If I had been his dad, I would have kicked his **** all the way home :mad:
 
About 80 yards, maybe less.

TBH, he was wearing a cap and his face was hidden. Normally I would have said something, but I've had quite a time of it setting up the business, and this was to be my last round for a while. I really couldn't be bothered ruining the round with an argument.

You can't educate people like that anyway. He would of thought he'd done nothing wrong. God knows what the guys playing with him thought though.
 
In which case they probably see him do it week in, week out and even find it funny. I think they need to be punished for a) not reporting the damage to the course and b) condoning such behaviour. Of course b) is wishful thinking but you'd have thought once they saw the damage on the green common sense would have prevailed and they would have said something. Did no-one mention the marks on the green afterwards
 
I told a guy off a couple of years back for losing his rag, lobbing clubs is bad enough, but whacking the ground and trees repeatedly is just way too much.

I said to him after the second incident..."If you are so angry at your golf then try punching yourself in the face a few times, or even use your club, the course and trees are not responsible, you are, if you dont wish to do this yourself I would be happy to do it for you."....Although he seemed very shocked, strangely enough he played very well after that and even when he made a mistake he said nothing.

So to all mental cases who wish to commit extreme abuse to a golf course simply because they are CRAP momentarily or all the time, please punch yourselves or hit yourselves very very hard with your golf clubs and give the course a break. :rolleyes:
 
I had a mate once who was in hospital for two weeks with a fractured skull caused by some ***** throwing a club. If I had my way ANYONE caught throwing a club should be banned for a long time. Club throwing is just not acceptable, it's dangerous, and makes the thrower look what he is..a total ******!!
 
a mate of mine (in fact the guy who got me into golf) is a club thrower, ball thrower, bag kicker. the type who is extremely hyper on the tee and can hear a butterfly f**t in a thunderstorm.

I suppose I am condoning it in a way but it just makes me laugh, which makes him worse.

Never thrown one myself, I'm more for the 'over controlled striking of club on ground' - it hits softer than a short putt! - oh and some fairly ripe language at times (directed toward myself)

I too can laugh at it when no damage is done and no one else at risk, brief moments offrustration are understandable sometimes, but to me there is a big difference when people hurl clubs miles out of sight or in the direction of others, or mindlessly issue a prolonged beating to the fairway or some tree. ;)This is the world of the mentally disturbed.
 
While looking for my ball about 30 yds right of a green in the deep dodah, I once found a very nice sand wedge where it had obviously been thrown out of frustration. It had been there for some time judging by the growth around it.

I'm nowhere near as bad as I used to be. Have been known to lob the odd club. Threw an almost brand new 2 iron over somebodies back garden once, never did get it back.
And I once dragged my trolley the full length of the longest par 4 at Crowborough upside down with it's wheels in the air....oh how my mates were chuckling.
I now limit myself to the odd helicoptered putter when things are getting a tad trying on the greens...never in the direction of another player I might add. The only things I damage are either my kit or my self esteem.
 
You must of changed a bit Smiffy - on the two occasions that I've had the pleasure of your company on the golf course, you were nothing other than a real gent! :eek: :eek: :D :D

If I do anything its letting go of the club so it falls at my feet - not really chucking.
Back to the OP - surely someone knows who this guy is? His playing partners are hiding him and need to be sorted too.
