But if we complain about career politicians who know nothing about real life? Yes OW has great wealth - but she knows where the bottom is; she understands struggling from the bottom, and has experienced significant personal life struggles and painful events between then and now.

At what point does someone in public, but not political, life change from being unqualified to run - to being qualified to run. OW has been active in US politics for at least 10 years - she is 63 - she is no kid.

I am not saying that OW running for POTUS would be a great thing - it might be, but sure as hell almost ANYBODY would be better than the current, possibly mentally unstable, incumbent...

To my knowledge Oprah has never held political office. Surely that must be a prerequisite to the top job? The fact that I discern her politics to more closely align to my own is not enough reason to think she'd make a good POTUS. Of course, an intelligent and articulate self-made billionaire has to be a better bet than the spoiled manchild currently in office!

It's a natural progression - they've done actor and now reality TV star. If they do chat show host then sooner or later we arrive at fictional charachter...

To an outsider, it is always different living in a country to watching from outside as the press can skew opinion, I'd love Michelle Obama to become a Senator, Governor etc for a term and then run. Now there is an individual who would wipe the floor with anyone and would certainly put DT in his place. Hugely impressive woman.

But applying @FDs criteria - what political office has MO actually held? She is disqualified?

I agree, which is why I stated she needed to be a Senator or a Governor for a term first of all. Everyone then gets to see if she, in this case, is actually up to the job. Messing up one US state is less critical than messing up the whole country and wider.
