not inc chips around green plus it was a 2 club wind on some shots.

Cheers

Steve...

You are supposed to play the course in order not the 1st tee then 3rd green etc etc ;) and anyway after two shanks how come you are putting :(

If i was to hit the 3rd green that would req a shot of about 1000 yards with a hint of draw. :)
Aim well left. or face left:)

Right let me remember!

1 - driver/pw
2 - driver/5i
3 - 5i or 21hybrid
4 - driver/pw
(4 - hybrid/hybrid/8i)
5 - 8i/8i
6 - driver/9i
7 - 9i
8 - driver/hybrid/hybrid/pw
9 - driver/hybrid/pw
10 - driver/hybrid
11 - driver/hybrid/pw
12 - driver/pw
13 - driver/9i
14 - driver/hybrid/pw
15 - driver/hybrid/hybrid
16 - 5i or hybrid
17 - driver/9i
18 - 8i

There are two 4th holes as ours is currently a par 4 not 5 as work being done on the fairway.

This sounds like fun;

1 - Driver, 7i, 52
2 - 8i
3 - 3w, 8i
4 - 3w, 5i (top), 5i, 56
5 - 3w, 6i
6 - 9i
7 - 3w, 2H, 52
8 - 3w, 7i, PW
9 - 3w, 9i (fat out of FW bunker), 9i, 9i!
10 - 3w, 2H, 52
11 - 2H, 52
12 - 7i
13 - Driver (lost ball right - dropped one about 150 yards from the tee on the edge of the rough as it was only a bounce game), 2H, 9i, 52
14 - 5i
15 - 3w, 2H, 8 or 9i
16 - 3w, 52 (got underneath from fluffy lie and left it short), PW
17 - 2H, 2H
18 - 3w, 2H, 9i

That includes my pitches from around the green too and that was recalling from last Monday (bank holiday)

Interesting exercise.

I can remember the shots from my last round at any particular course, but past that I get them mixed up between rounds.

Parred it so Up Yours!!:ears::ears:

Me. Fragger and CVG all have a huge psycological barrier about our first hole.
Normally into the wind, it's at least a 170 yard carry over a diagonal ditch and is just over 200 carry at most.
Ditch carries on up the left side with trees, ditch on the right side too with deep rough beyond and trees one side of the cross ditch making it quite intimidating for the first shot of the day with a driver. We have little in the way of warm-up facilities and as a first drive - especially in a medal - screw it up and it can ruin your day.
Stupidly, the 14th runs in the same direction and has a cross ditch but it's not diagonal. The tee shot is very similar - I don't think twice about blasting a driver over that.....
Most who know the hole, lay up but that leaves you over 200 to the green and realistically making it a par 5. Mostly I'll accept a 5 and move on but just occasionally I'll get it right. Today I hit a good 6 to 5 yards short of the ditch. 210 to the flag into the wind and the 4 wood just faded right to miss the green but a chip'n'a'putt saved the par for a 3 point starter!!

Of course when Gary came down befoe Xmas for a game he just blasted the driver over it without thinking about it.....you can go off people quite quickly sometimes...:ears:

Looking at this thread, it raises a point whether we hit whatever off the tee and play the club to get us to the green, as opposed to taking the club off the tee that leaves you your favourite club in? E.g.

Hole 390y par 4.

1. Take driver leaving 130. Take the unfavoured PW as that's the distance club for you. OR...
2. Take 3w leaving 150. Take the 9i as you love hitting that club.

I don't have a favourite iron to hit approach shots with so the longer off the tee the better for me.
Since I'm no likelier to hit it straight by leaving the driver in the bag, the only times I don't use it is when driver distance is more likely to get me into trouble, or when driver will leave me 50-70yds with the flag at the front of the green.

I practice my mid irons a lot as they are the best clubs to use when working on new swing changes and drills. I think I use the majority of the clubs in my bag at least once, certainly yesterday when it was an exercise in disaster recovery after being out of position on most holes.

Certainly an interesting post. Having not played since September due to the bust shoulder I do not know what I hit. But if I was going to look at the course without any wind on a normal summers day this is what I would expect to use:

1: Driver - 9i
2: 4i - PW
3: Driver - 3i
4: Driver - PW
5: Driver then a pitch or chip (280 yard par 4)
6: 5i
7: Driver - LW
8: Driver - 5i - PW
9: 9i
10: Rescue 16* - pw
11 4i - SW
12: Driver - 9i
13: Driver - Rescue 16*
14: Rescue 19* - 8i
15: Driver - 9i
16: 6i
17: Rescue16* - 6i
18: 4i - 8i

I think I would use most of my clubs at my course with the holes being so varied. But I could probably still manage with a half if I had to I suppose.

No windmill?

Usually round my course, mine is as follows:

1. Driver - 7/8 iron
2. Driver - 3 Wood - 3 Hybrid - PW - Enormous par 5, and one of the 3 big hits is usually duffed.
3. Driver - 7 iron
4. Driver - 4 Hybrid/5 iron
5. Driver - 7 iron - 8 iron
6. 7 iron
7. Driver - PW
8. 8 Iron
9. Driver - 4 Hybrid
10. Driver/3 Wood - 9 Iron
11. Driver - 5/6 Iron
12. Driver - 3 Wood - PW
13. Driver - 7 iron
14. 4 Hybrid/5 iron
15. Driver - 3 Wood - PW
16. Driver - 7 Iron
17. 6 iron
18. Driver - GW

In the Summer, it's amazing how many of them become 9 iron/PW into the green. Distance off the tee in Summer can make the game so much easier.

1. Driver, 4i
2. Driver, 5i
3. 3w, pw
4. Driver, 4i, 9i
5. 4i
6. Driver, 3i
7. Driver, 8i
8. Driver, 3w
9. Driver, 5i
10. 7i
11. Driver 3w wedge
12. 6i
13. Hybrid, 9i
14. Driver, 8i
15. 5i
16. 3w 5i
17 3w 3w 9i
18. Driver, 8i

These clubs can be wildly different on the tenth (a short 135yd par 3) I have seen myself hit 3iron one day then the next hit a gap wedge.
