How often do you change your bag?

I am guilty of changing too frequently.. but I think I have turned a corner as I am going to keep all my current items in circulation. I think I may have realised , but not quite sure that the constant that makes the performance bad is me 😳

The only thing that's changed regularly in my bag is my 54° wedge and that's purely because I've won 3 or 4 of them in the last few years, I've still got one at home in its original wrapper ready for the new season ahead :ROFLMAO:

Driver is 2 years old.
2h is probably 2 years old, 4h over 7 years old.
Irons are 6 years but I am going for a fitting tomorrow night at Orka so that could change.
Putter, 4 or 5 years old.

Don't change the bag around that often. Have messed about this year but nothing that's affected the bag too much.

Driver- 6 years old
3 Wood - 7 years old
5w - 6 years old
4h - 6 years old
Irons - replaced this year (twice after the T200s didn't really work out)
Wedges - 6 years old
Putter - 11 years old

There's a little caveat to the above. I was put out of the game in 2018 for about two years following a road accident. I sold my irons and hybrids (had intended to sell the lot but only the irons and hybrids went). When I bought the 4h again, I bought the same M4 model so it's technically 6 years old.

Putter is a lifer though, many have come and gone but the Betti always prevails.

I don't get Christmas cards from local golf shops and club fitters.

I used to chop and change a bit, but then realised that it made much more sense for me to spend a long time choosing my clubs but then stick with them.

Driver / fairway / hybrid: SIM Max from 2020. Driver and 3W were fitted and I have no plans to replace them. Replaced Titleist clubs which were in the bag 7 years.
Irons: 9 year old Mizunos. Work very well, regripped last year. Replaced TM's which were in the bag 10 years.
Wedges: 9 year old Mizunos too (MP-T5). I had a little session in the swing studio a couple of weeks ago to compare the spin to new wedges. On short pitches the difference was negligible. On full swings the difference was marginal... not enough to make a difference at this time of year, the idea of grooves wearing out is a bit of a fallacy.
Putter: It's all about matching the way it sits at address to my stroke. I think I've had my current putter for about 8 years, had an Odyssey 2 ball for about 10 years before that, technology makes no difference here.

I'm not one for changing all the time but this year I've changed the lot

Bag itself I changed
Putter changed, 2018 was the last time
Wedges changed 2020-21 last ones purchased
Irons changed 2016 last changed
4 wood changed 2021 last change
Driver changed 2021 last change
Hybrids changed 2020 last change

Now they are mostly fitted I doubt I'll change for long while

I do however have 1 space in the bag so if something takes my fancy I might add it

When I started playing I got a bag full of beginner Nicklaus irons & 2nd hand Cally driver
Then changed to a bunch of high handicap type cobra irons , cobra driver & bag etc
Now I'm a 'player' I have a bag full of mizunos

Will only change again if when I get sponsored ;)

More than I used to as I get older!

Driver every 2 years, fairways / Hybrids 3-4 years depending on wear, irons every 4 years, wedges every 2 years (wear) and putter hardly ever!

Callaway pre-owned has not been my friend re the above.

In forty odd years of golf I'm on my second putter & third set of irons .
Had a few drivers, maybe 4-5 most have been hand me downs two bought new. Probably about 3-4 fairway woods and two hybrids.
This sounds very similar to me. I’ve changed my putter twice since I bought my first one in 1976…it was a John Letters Golden Goose mallet. Changed to an Acushnet Bullseye flange in about 1987…then to my current one - Odyssey #2 Centre Shaft - about eight yrs ago.

And only ever had three sets of irons in 50 yrs. I was a total believer in the philosophy that if the tools are decent then it’s up to the workman to make a good job of it. These days…I might look for a bit of technological help for 160yds and longer distances 🙄

Yup, I'm not opposed to changing clubs and I suspect the next change may well be a bit sooner as I get older and want lighter equipment.
Have to say the reports of significant improvement in putting with LAB putters intrigue me, but the cost puts me off.

I suspect that if there is an improvement, the improvement is not in the putting but in the outcome - but hey…I guess that that what we yearn for👍

My putting is pretty good…I have a process. If I look back to when I changed those eight years ago I don’t recall having a process such as that I have now. I put much (most) of my improvement in putts holed down to understanding my ‘right eye dominance’; my process, and practice - rather than the putter.

i changed my bag this year , was good 10 years old and was worn in places and a couple of the zips had broken. the clubs on the other had i dont tend to change to often, but saying that i havnt touched a club in over 4 months now which is a big change for be as i used to play 4 or 5 time a week.

I fell away from playing for a while so actually had my last set for about 10 years without a change, they were all a bit knackered, the irons/wedges in particular. Grooves were gubbed. Then covid time, around 4 years ago I started playing again and decided to go custom fit and upgrade the full bag, woods, irons & wedges. The Titleist fitter actually had a laugh as he’d started his job with Titleist in 2003 and the model of irons I had (680mb I think) were the latest release when he started and I still had them in the bag.

So yeah had the new bats since then, sensibly now away from the old blades and can’t really see me changing again until these are all knackered.

I was a bit of switcher and hoarder of putters mind you, to the point I’d about 7 or 8 I think lying in a bag gathering dust, then one day ebay’d the lot of them and kept the one old trusty in the bag. Would quite like to get it restored as it’s about 20 odd year old aswell and a bit battered.

The thread question is How often do you change your bag? I thought you would provide some insight into the contract negotiations for professional caddies
