Hello all.
I am looking at buying a set of irons but want the older ping g ranges, G10 upwards.
Looking at spending £200 ish or slightly more if pushed.
I'm a high handicapper, my main struggle is 2nd & 3rd fairway shots with irons, I want something more forgiving, I know will tell me to have lessons and I'm looking into that too.
So...any advice or knowledge on the numerous ranges of older ping irons would be great. Thank you for your time ?

I think you have what you need to know! You like Ping. G "all other things being equal" are a good forgiving range of irons. G10 onwards is a decent place to be for your budget. A consideration is how many irons you want in the set. eBay and Golf Bidder would be worth a look, unless you have some good shops nearby with second hand sections (where in NW are you? Someone will know!)

Quick look at Golf Bidder sees this well within budget. Ping can also be adjusted if they are the wrong colour code for you

Cheers folks.
I already have the G15 driver, 3,5 & 7 woods so I'm thinking the G15s will suit me.

How do you strike the 3, 5 and 7 woods?

If your are struggling it may be because they have a smaller face and head size cc in comparison to more of the 'modern' woods.

Just a thought mate ??

Well, I bought a set of Ping G15 irons 4 - sw and used them today in poor conditions.......... massive improvement on the cobra Sz one length had.
My iron strikes were much better.

Good to hear they are working. As you improve I'd look to swap the G15 wedge of a different model, perhaps a specialist wedge. I found all of the G series SW's rather chunky and cumbersome
