Planning a visit to Northumberland next year with my wife. Definitely looking to play plenty of the courses on that coast. Probably in early June..

Where should we stay?
What sort of accomodation you looking for?

If it’s left to your own devices then there are plenty of Static Caravan sites either just off the A1 or on the coast.

Premier Inn in Alnwick, holiday cottages etc.

Really depends if it’s a holiday with site seeing or a Golf trip.

Alnmouth is a prime spot. Warkworth is nice, but make sure you have parking.

Alnwick may be a smart one. Possibly cheaper, pleasant enough market town, good base to get around from.

Amble has become more popular but again, parking in the places to rent is getting a bit 'interesting '.

Bamburgh and Seahouses are other popular ones but you might find them a little too far up for other places you will visit.

When you get a bit of a shortlist going, feel free to PM me. I can eliminate the places you don't want to be in, more important than guiding you the other way 😄

I had relatives come up and stay at the Bockenfield site, opposite Burgham. It was a nice site, caravans were impressive (aren't they all now?)

Some of the Caravans/Lodged available on some sites are second to none, used as a self catering solution it can work out good value for money.

Have you been to The Rocking Horse cafe near there? Ever so friendly, lovely cakes 😍. Avoid if you don't like dogs though, it's uber dog friendly.
Well I'll be......
I've done that corner loads of times, and never knew it was there...or what it was.
Defo gonna pop in there early next June:)

On the advice of some of our northern cousins a few years ago, we played Goswick, Bamburgh castle and Alnmouth aka Foxton Hall. They were all very good. Another course we liked was Seahouses. Some gorgeous holes on that but some very average holes. Chuck in Dunstaburgh castle course and you are spoilt for choice. We loved Seahouses as a base as it is quite central for that lot. Again if you are pulling in Berwick on Tweed for a day, Holy island also to the North. Then Alnwick, Warksworth castle and Amble to the south. Again it’s quite central.

Recently did a trip to Bamburgh and stopped at the Victoria Hotel. Absolutely top drawer. Great location, couple of good pubs and restaurants nearby, and played Bamburgh, Goswick and Alnmouth.

Couldn’t fault any element of the trip.

If you are looking for a decent hotel, I’d recommend The Lord Crewe in Bamburgh or The Joiners Arms at High Newton.

There are some very nice Airbnbs in Bamburgh. Bamburgh is our favourite place for a short break, beautiful village, great pubs, the beach is stunning, the Castle is a good option on a rainy day, the walk to Seahouses and back is well worth doing.

We stayed in a holiday cottage in a village called Belford, it’s a couple of miles inland from Bamburgh, nice and quiet a couple of cafes, 3 pubs & a decent co-op. It was an ideal location to explore the northern parts of Northumberland, plenty to see and do without having to travel too far.

I think you will find suitable accommodation in Alnwick.
Good place to base yourselves. Walking around the town is pleasant, plenty to see, and the castle and gardens require a full day.
Cragside is another full day and the drive from Alnwick to Rothbury is a superb B-road.
