Costa Blanca golf

Nice one buddy.

Would you have a rough idea of flight prices to and from Mercia/Alicante around May time?

Flight not available as of yet and guess we will have to wait until Xmas

Edit: I am thinking of swapping out Las Ramblas for Lo Romero.

For anyone that has played them please advise

Alicante will likely work out cheaper, the old Murcia airport was great but the new one is a bit further inland, bit of a white elephant in reality - it was built years ago and then mothballed, it opened about 4 years back I think but it's never really taken off - if you'll pardon the pun.

Personally, I'd play Las Ramblas over Lo Romero - I think it's a much better course - although Lo Romero is good. Las Ramblas is pretty challenging if you don't really get the ball in the air though, so if you have a few in your group that might struggle - chances are they'll find it a bit too much.

Good shout buddy, we are all between 5.0 and 16.0 index so no choppers and judging by what you’re saying Las Ramblas would be a good test.

Will look into flights when more details become available

We did some videos from Las Ramblas - excuse the camerawork, but it'll give you a good idea of what the course is like.

Just booked this trip for 9.

Birmingham to Murcia outbound
Alicante to Luton inbound.

Playing these courses in order:

Las Ramblas
Las Colinas
La Finca

We are contemplating going to Benidorm for a drink on the last night. Our flight the next day is at midnight.

Do you think it’s possible?

You’re 5 minutes from the AP7 motorway at La Finca, Benidorm is sn hour up the motorway.

I'll let you know about El Valle, we are staying there for a few days in a couple of weeks time.

How was El Valle as a place to stay? I’ve played there half a dozen times, fantastic course, but the housing estate has always felt like a ghost town.

About 35 mins drive North of La Finca is Font del Llop Golf Club.

Hands down the best course I've played in that neck of the woods. Well worth the short extra drive. Only 15 mins from Alicante airport, so it you are flying
into / out of there - it's a great option for your first or last round

Agreed on convenience of the course for first or last round of the trip. No way is it the best course in the area. Las Colinas and El Valle are significantly better, both have been used for European Tour Q school.

Food recommendations: I would agree with Greg and Depreston.

But feel free to ignore my point of view because I wouldn’t go to Spain and eat in an Irish bar or American tex-mex restaurant.

I would agree that there is very little going for it as a place to stay especially if you don't have a car. We did enjoy the course, a great layout although the fairways and greens had suffered due to the lack of rain.

I have been debating recently to stick or twist with our first round at Las Ramblas.

Apparently it’s quite difficult.

El Valle and Lo Romero are two alternatives but Mel Smooth mentioned about sticking with Ramblas over Romero.

Would El Valle be better to play than Ramblas?

Everyone says La Finca and Los Colinas are very good so sticking with those two for sure

Las Ramblas is great fun - but it is difficult. Lots of ravines and trees, tight and long par 3's - but if I was heading back to the area, it would be one of my picks to play - some love it, some hate it. Lo Romero is good, and you wouldn't be disappointed with it but personally I feel Las Ramblas is a must play if you've not played it before as it's very different to most of the courses you will play in the area.

I never ventured down to El Valle but one of the lads at our club - who's dad lived on Roda Golf, said he felt El Valle was the best course in the area.

You'll just have to go again...

I watched a couple of videos recently of El Valle and it looks like a desert.

I think we will stick with Las Ramblas on your recommendation bud.

Although it sounds difficult I think the highest handicapper in our group is 16.7. We should all definitely give it a good go 👍

Can’t sleep. Just read through this thread and noticed a couple of things I must have missed before.

We fly home from Alicante at midnight. We will almost certainly pass Font Del Llop on the way to the airport.

This has potential to be our last round before we fly home. We can even make the twilight fee at 3pm and still have time for beers after.

The stars are aligned.

Someone sell Font Del Llop to me 🤣

I’m surprised by this,I really didn’t rate El Valle.

Really? My mates and I all think it’s a great course!

The holes at the far end are a bit tight, with water on one side of the fairway and housing/oob on the other (certainly makes a challenge). But the holes in the middle of the course through the rocky desert terrain are really entertaining. Great mix of long and short holes, reachable par 4’s and par 5’s, lots of tactical choices. Always been in superb condition when I’ve played it, which makes a big difference.
