No women at Muirfield

I was going to post on this but then every time I scroll down the following appears and I decide against it.

It's not banter when it's trolling.

This has nothing to do with sexism and everything to do with the fact that some, not all by any means, men want to get away from the opposite sex for a few hours and just relax after a weeks work and have a bit of R&R. But no! Women cannot stand it and they want to come to a golf club and join in and drink pints and be "One of the lads". I've seen these one of the lads types spread eagle outside Yates wine lodge showing everything off to everyone whilst lying in a pool of vomit. Nice one. Emily Pankhurst would turn in her grave.

Ok, this is getting ridiculous. Obviously because they would have an unfair physical advantage that would render the competition meaningless. Totally irrelevant!

Why is it ridiculous? One club doesnt allow women. One tour doesnt allow men.
For the record I think they should allow woman, just get frustrated with equality when it suits.

You don't need to borrow a spade do you ?

I see your point unlike some others on here. All I will say is that hosting The Open there whilst the no women policy is in place does not set a good impression. However if the members of the club wish to keep it as men only then great I have no problem with that

You are actually incredibly sexist but seem to think otherwise. This post, for example, is awful.

So all competitive sport should be contested by everyone? Men, women, able bodied, disabled, children, professionals, complete beginners all in together? Your argument is completely spurious and irrelevant to any discussion on sexism.

So that'll be Muirfield, Royal St. Georges and Royal Troon off the Open rota then.

Whoopee

Story out of nothing IMHO.
There are ladies only golf clubs and no one says a thing but a mens only golf club, how very dare they!

Not saying remove them at all, all I am saying is that it potentially could attract negative publicity. Are the other 2 courses Men only as well then? if that is the case I did not know that. Cant remember any fuss when it was held recently at Royal St Georges

Which ladies only club is on the open rota? That's what the debate is about, do try to keep up!

I couldn't care less which clubs are or aren't on the rota, just because a major is played there doesn't seem a reason to change the clubs rules.
I don't know if there is but there wouldn't be problem if the Ladies Open was played at a ladies only club.

Probably a lot to do with the Royal patronage thing. What with the Queen being a woman and all.

The press like stirring things up, but possibly not that much!

Some of the posts and opinions expressed in this thread are beyond ignorant and pathetic and deserve whole new categories inventing for them. I can't even be bothered wasting seconds of my life thinking of facetious replies.
