Right I'm nailing my colours firmly to the mast here when I say I totally and without any doubt in my mind applaud Muirfield from their stance on not allowing lady members at the club. Call me a Dinosaur, old fashioned, a fuddy duddy. Whatever you like I do not care one jot! I think Muirfield has the right not to include ladies in their club if they do not want them there.
Why, Why, Why do women want to do everything we do? Do they not realise men play Golf to get away from women. It is a release from all things Woman to leave the house and play golf with other male friends, have a laugh together, and get away from the hum drum of married life for just a few hours a week.
I do not give a fig what feminists have to say. Men need a few hours a week away from Women and just enjoy being a bloke.
Long live Muirfield, keep those women well away, you do not need them.

I agree with you, if a group of men want to have their own private golf club, then so be it. There are plenty of women only clubs/groups and they need to realise that and shut their moaning up.

If they want to be a 'private' men only Club fine, but should Muirfield then be allowed to hold such a public event as the Open ? The biggest golf competition, seen worldwide, from a Club that excludes half the population. :mmm: Wonder in what light the rest of the world view modern Britain ?

Fair enough have your own group but not when it's on a major scale like this case. This club is representing Great Britain in the world of golf and its bringing a bad smell in the air

Maybe, but it shouldn't be legitimised by hosting a high profile comp. it's a PR own goal. Substitute 'women' for another section of society, then make the argument!!

Apparently some of them want to drive cars like us men --- on OUR roads!!!!

Unexpected post from you DB, pretty shallow mindset there. You don't have to talk to the 'enemy' if you don't want, or have them in your 4-ball. If merely having them around irritates you so much might I suggest a divorce? :p

Why shouldn't they hold The Open? It is after all a Men's Golf Event, no Women play, nor should they ever be allowed to. They have a Women's Open. I'm sure they wouldn't be too impressed if Rose,Poulter, Woods Mickleson et al, turned up and demanded they be allowed to play in the event in the name of equality.
The Open is for men and so is Muirfield.

This might sound mad but it isnt the club that is on show, it is the course.

The Open Championship is not about the club, it's about the course. It should be staged on the finest courses.

No you may not suggest a divorce, Who will make my tea and iron my golf trousers?

Reminds me a the fly on the wall documentary about North Wood golf Club years ago. One of the old boys was asked about women golfers. He said he was amazed that they could get on the course so early, as surely they must have their husbands breakfasts to make, and housework to do.

Good to know the spirit of the old fart still lives on.

This is an interesting point as I believe women CAN enter the Open? Which asks the question, is it the women that are being sexist by not allowing men to enter the Womens Open championship?

Several women have played in mens PGA events but have any men been invited to play in LPGA events?

Who said women want to play ? As the biggest golf competition in the world it should be promoting the game of golf, not sexism. What has all the publicity in the press and tv been about ? How great golf is, or how women can not be members ?:mmm:

Wrong, the top five in each of the preceding 4 womens' majors can enter.
