No ones better than their handicap... or are they?

Based on my last 3 cards my initial handicap would be 5 on the basis that I doubt they'd dish out a 4 for initial handicap.

Last 3 comps I'd be 9.

Please don't edit what I have written, it's the height of bad manners.

No problem if you disagree but don't misquote me.

Thank you.

Don't be so sensitive. What I did was a means of making a point which has been used many, many times on the forum.

Well in the last three comps one of my rounds was a level gross round , one was 3 over and one was 4 over - so as you can't get a HC below 5 initially it would still be 5 :D

Off my last 3 comps they have been +10 +11 +12 which works out to an 11 handicap which is spot on. I think fripnchips would disagree with that and have me off scratch...............to give him a chance of winning :D

I think the OP said

As you are handicapped on your lowest score, he would be off 5 not 7
Bandit

That will teach me to read the whole of the Orig post then:ears:

In that case mine is 68, 70, 72...

which makes me +3 in that case:rofl::rofl::rofl:

next week i could be off 18

Edit

those are Gross scores by the way not sure if Ive got that right or not

Weirdly when I worked out my fake initial handicap using the US slope system it came out at 17 but looks like it would be 19 on the UK system

My handicap when i left NZ, same system was 2.8 so 3 and first handicap back here was 6 , now dropped to 5, so not far out.

My last 3 comps have been
76 - 70 -1
80 - 75 +3
83 - 78 +7

86, 89, 83 (par 71, sss71 and css71 on last comp) but the figures don't show a couple of high scores in each round that were reduced under Stableford adjustment.

Anyway just gone up .1 with an away result

I'm German, so not exactly sure how to calculate a handicap based on my last 3 cards, but GameGolf calculates my HCP at 21, my last rounds at my local 9 hole course have all been around +10/+11, so that seems about right.

My official HCP is 27,2, which is due to the fact I had to start from 54 and didn't get enough comps in to bring it further down.

handicaps are generally pretty accurate as a representation of a golfers ability in the 'pressure' medal scenario, provided the golfer puts in cards on a regular basis (albeit the current system moves far too slowly in my opinion to recognise improvements)

the problem is most golfers will play at a different level in a friendly game, or in a match play situation, or in a pairs competition. in my experience this can vary significantly from the handicap counting scenario. this is especially true with higher handicap golfers where the number variation is likely to be much higher between a golfers 'pressure' (actual) handicap and 'no-pressure' (notional) handicap.

we basically have a handicap system which is only suitable and fit for individual competition play, and it is completely unsuitable for the vast majority of golfing scenarios we actually engage in.

for me, for the handicap system to maintain its relevance, it MUST find a way to incorporate friendly games, etc. into the calcuation of an individuals playing handicap.

my initial handicap based on my last three rounds would be 7, not 6.0. just a matter of time...

My last 3 social rounds I have shot, 19 over (adjusted to 18), 16 over, (adjusted to 14) and 17 over, (no adjustment). So using those cards my handicap would be 14.

My last 3 comps I have shot 34 over, don't ask (adjusted to 23), 35 over (adjusted to 30) and 26 over (adjusted to 25) so my handicap would be 23.

My official h/cap is 22.

My social rounds have been more recent and I haven't been able to play a comp since Sept due to being on holiday and now the fire at Wokefield causing the club to close. Hoping for a big cut when I finally get a chance (I'll probably shoot 105) :)

ha my last 3 cards.

+10, +7, +10

my handicap is...... 17.1 only played a couple of comps like in may/june this year. Think if i keep going at this rate first comp next year i will be chased out of the club.
