Nice write up for Lottie Woad.

Demolished a half decent field.....shame she's still an amateur....could have been a very lucrative week.
I suspect she's going to make an OK living out of the game though....
£58,000 this comp plus £52,000 from US Open a few weeks ago. Last year she didn't collect about £200,000. Lots of tax and expenses to pay though.

All the money she would have earned in prize money - she could have used some of it to pay for security to deal with the sort of stalkers someone like her would attract.

I have a feeling he is trying to suggest that someone on this forum maybe a stalker
Yeah. I have to say I think its particularly noxious, when the OP in the thread has openly stated his interest that his prospective son in law is her coach and has a natural pride that some posters appear to make rather unpleasant personal innuendos.

🤷‍♀️ Anyway...

Was up at 3:15am this morning to take her coach to Gatwick for his flight to Geneva...he's her caddie for the Amundi Evian - an LPGA accredited LET Major (i.e. formally part of the LPGA Tour) - which starts Thursday.

They'll be targeting making the cut and, if successful with that, aiming T25. That would get her the two LEAP Pts she needs to turn pro (if she so wishes) for the Scottish Open at Dundonald starting 24th July and the Open at Royal Porthcawl the week after. If she makes the cut but doesn't get T25 at the Evian she'll play the Scottish going for the final LEAP pt - would need to finish T40 for that.

Just found out that the winner's prize went to the pro who came 2nd. Seems a bit strange.
Surely it would make more sense to ask Lottie which charity she'd like to donate it to?

Seems not a bad thing in LET golf where many players will be on the edge of financial viability. PGAT Signature event would be different (not that you’d probably get an amateur there). May work in Lottie’s favour in the future … who knows.

Not a lot of money in the LET and pros playing in LET comps have had to work and struggle hard to get there. Got a feeling that those who’d qualified to play in a comp with a decent prize fund, such as the Irish Open, wouldn’t be that chuffed if a sponsors amateur ‘pick to play’ walked off with a load of the prize money - money that the LET pros need to keep going.

I thought the same, but like any sport, prize purse is clear before entry and that's the rules.

She will earn far more than that as she progresses - some talent!

It was the same when Lowry won the Irish open a while back and also when Dunlap won on the PGAT

The endorsements they gain will more than make up for any lost prize money

It wasn't the loss of the money to the player that confused me. They're amateur, and know they won't get the prize money.

What I found a bit strange is that the player who came 2nd gets the money for coming 1st. (And presumably every other prize moves down a place).
I guess the fact that most LET players need the cash kind of makes sense. But I doubt that Madelene Sagstroem is short of a few bob.
