Nice write up for Lottie Woad.

It wasn't the loss of the money to the player that confused me. They're amateur, and know they won't get the prize money.

What I found a bit strange is that the player who came 2nd gets the money for coming 1st. (And presumably every other prize moves down a place).
I guess the fact that most LET players need the cash kind of makes sense. But I doubt that Madelene Sagstroem is short of a few bob.
That's what happens. Sure Sagström is going to be one of the better off playing the LET circuit..but the amounts drop off significantly very quickly - so 4th at €27,000 to joint 5th at €15,750. T9th won €10,800. The players have the incentive of a relatively big prize for finishing 5th or better...they don't need someone parachuted in by a sponsor walking away with one of the bigger prizes in the fund.

Anyway...lot more €€€ on offer in the Amundi Evian...and the field reflects that...all the top LPGA tour players other then Lexi are there. Making the cut never mind T25 is going to be tough.

I think this comes from the viewpoint that the prize money is for first place. It's not about people needing the cash, it's that it's the share of the purse for the top professional, entering as an amateur you already know you are not entitled to any share of the purse. It's similar when there is a tie, say 2 players tie for second place, they get the share of the purse for 2nd and 3rd split equally between them, not amount allocated for second place each.

The professional golfer is playing for the prize money as well as the competition win

The Amateur isn’t in the prize money competition

So the person that takes first prize money is the first Professional

It’s just two seperate tournament prizes

Ah right. The prize fund is what's going to be shared amongst the pros. That makes sense now.

Decent opening round of -3 in the Amundi Evian including two really bad breaks (one after the other) on 18th leading to a bogey. Good start though.

Solid -2 today sees Lottie at -5 and as certain as you can be at this point to make the cut...and so that is one out of two LEAP pts she's after in the bank. Another couple of solid rounds and she'll be knocking on door of T25 or better for the 2nd. Good way behind the leader, but as far as LEAP iS concerned that doesn't matter. Besides - she's alongside Nelly Korda, Minjee Lee, Emily Pederson and Jenny Shin on -5...that's very august company.

A real roller-coaster of a 3rd round closed out with a great birdie on 18th. But three bogeys and a double to go with six birdies…🙄🤷‍♂️👏. Anyway a -1 round sees her on -6 and T19. Good going though a bit precarious re finishing T25 or better tomorrow.

Been some excellent scores today and if lottie bags one of those in she is gonna fly up the leaderboard.

I will Be honest, I had never heard of Miss Woad until
SILH mentioned her on here. I started taking a little interest in her. The few pieces I have mentioned about her all seem
To mention her “Mental strength”. Bottom line she don’t do Tommy Fleetwood.
Her ability to work the ball and to shoot good scores.
Personally I think the SPOTY shout is a good call.
