That's what happens. Sure Sagström is going to be one of the better off playing the LET circuit..but the amounts drop off significantly very quickly - so 4th at €27,000 to joint 5th at €15,750. T9th won €10,800. The players have the incentive of a relatively big prize for finishing 5th or better...they don't need someone parachuted in by a sponsor walking away with one of the bigger prizes in the fund.It wasn't the loss of the money to the player that confused me. They're amateur, and know they won't get the prize money.
What I found a bit strange is that the player who came 2nd gets the money for coming 1st. (And presumably every other prize moves down a place).
I guess the fact that most LET players need the cash kind of makes sense. But I doubt that Madelene Sagstroem is short of a few bob.
Anyway...lot more €€€ on offer in the Amundi Evian...and the field reflects that...all the top LPGA tour players other then Lexi are there. Making the cut never mind T25 is going to be tough.
